The Shaw JCC is unique in that it offers the opportunity for anyone interested to join just for the summer. Take advantage of everything this family-friendly facility has to offer.

This summer at The Shaw JCC is shaping up to be one of the best, and there’s still time for you and your family to be a part of it all.

Registration is open for summer membership, which includes full access to the entire facility and all the amenities the JCC has to offer, including the outdoor pool, summer camps and more than 60 fitness classes.

The community pool is a summer highlight for families. Kids and adults make lifelong friends and create lasting memories during the lazy days of summer spent splishing and splashing.

For summer members, it’s a perfect time to try out the fitness center, a group fitness class or two, pickleball, Camp JCC and more. Summer members have the advantage of full-member pricing for all programming, including significant discounts for Camp JCC.

“As we get ready to open the pool for the summer, we’re proud to announce we have fully renovated our outdoor pool houses and bathrooms, reflecting our ongoing investment in quality, safety and a welcoming environment for every guest,” Shaw JCC executive director Stephanie York says.

Camp JCC

“This year’s theme for camp is ‘Freedom,’” Camp JCC director Danielle Bunner says. “Not only are we celebrating the 250th anniversary of The United States of America, but also the freedom and joy of childhood that is experienced at camp. It is going to be a summer of fun and happiness.”

Camp JCC is a traditional 10-week summer camp available on a week-by-week basis for students entering grades 1-8. Kids can remain in traditional camp for the day or take part in specialty camps in the afternoons.

Offered from Monday, June 8, through Friday, August 14, camp kicks off at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. Aftercare options are available until 5:30 p.m.

“Kids spend the weeks enjoying traditional camp activities, including swimming, arts and crafts, themed activities, physical education and free choice periods,” senior marketing and communications director Shannon Piggott says. “All campers participate in morning camp activities and specialty camps take place in the afternoons.”

Specialty camps at Camp JCC are small-group camps offering dance, theater, golf, tennis, 3D printing, pottery, pickleball and more. Kids get the benefit of a typical summer camp in the mornings and get to try something new in the afternoons.

“With just a one-week commitment, kids can get a feel for an activity or sport and see if it’s something they’d like to pursue,” Shannon says. “It’s a great way for them to try something new.”

Membership

The JCC offers single, couple and family memberships for everyone regardless of religion, and prides itself on the community it has created. The goal is to provide a safe environment for families and individuals of all ages to enjoy the programs and facilities.

Summer members typically use the outdoor pool with the family, then come inside and give a workout class a try, take advantage of the state-of-the-art workout facility, or enjoy the basketball courts. Many people who just join for the summer discover lots of reasons to stay.

“If you plan to spend the summer at a pool, there’s no better full-service family facility than The Shaw JCC,” Stephanie says. “Beat the crowd, forgo the lines and grab your summer memberships now.”
