The air is crisp, the leaves are changing and our muscles are aching just thinking about winter. The change of seasons brings with it the stress and strain of fast-paced routines, holiday preparations, school activities and family gatherings, resulting in skipped workouts, limited sleep and less attention to self-care.

At StretchLab Fairlawn, your personal assisted stretch will not just get you through the change of seasons but have you feeling and performing better than ever.

“This time of year, our focus shifts to the holidays, more time indoors, shopping and eating,” says StretchLab general manager Cameron Moss. “All good things, but also things that can cause stress and strain on your body and mind. StretchLab is here to put the focus on preparing you for what’s to come.”

StretchLab offers assisted stretching by a trained expert, a Flexologist, who works on every muscle group and has you performing at your best, whatever that means for you.

“Stretching is beneficial and important no matter your age,” says Cameron. “We see clients as young as 7 years old with the goal of improving their sports performance, and others as old as 97, who want to walk without help and stay independent within their homes. Everyone has a unique goal and StretchLab will help you reach yours.”

Cameron reminds us that even mundane daily activities include bending, reaching, standing and walking. StretchLab allows us to do these things with ease and prepares our bodies for the activities we really want to do.

It starts with one phone call to gather information about your specific needs and goals, allowing your Flexologist to focus on those goals from your first stretch.

All StretchLab Flexologists are extensively trained experts with a background in fitness that may include bachelor’s and master’s degrees in related fields, along with experience in yoga, personal training and more.

Flexologists complete an extensive, three-tiered certification process that includes more than 60 hours of in-person workshops and online training, and many hands-on practice hours administering StretchLab’s signature 26 stretches to hone their skills.

“Flexologists use a stretching technique called proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, which uses resistance to target your body’s tissues and ligaments and improve muscle elasticity,” says Cameron. “In the cooler months, stretching becomes even more critical because our muscles don’t like the cold. They want to stay in the positions they’re in. This leads to aches, pains and joint instability. Stretching relieves this, keeps muscles warm, and promotes longevity.”

And don’t worry about being in pain. Flexologists work off a tension scale of one to 10 for every stretch. You are always in control and always progressing.

Like any lifestyle change, consistent stretching can be difficult to implement but the benefits are undeniable—and StretchLab is here to help.

“Many clients are nervous about being more sedentary in the coming months and want to retain flexibility when activity levels drop,” says Cameron. “Not only do we stretch you, but we also teach you how to correctly and successfully stretch on your own. There’s nothing like an assisted stretch to get the full benefits of stretching while also empowering you with the ability to stretch on your own without fear. Helping you keep up with your progress is a big part of what we do.”

To retain your summertime flexibility, improve in a sport or activity, gain independence at home, or get through the holidays with less stress on your body and mind, achieve all your goals with help from StretchLab.
