50th Annual Fairmount Art Exhibition

A treasured local favorite, this year the Fairmount Art Exhibition is reintroducing some favorite aspects of the show—and so much more.

A stack of books sits on a wooden table, next to a lit candle and a warm cup of coffee or tea.

The Fairmount Art Exhibition has a wonderful history of offering opportunities for both seasoned and beginning artists. It’s a welcoming and accessible show and local artists are encouraged to enter.

A beacon for art appreciation and artistic expression in Northeast Ohio for the past 55 years, Fairmount Center for the Arts is looking forward to celebrating the 50th Anniversary of its Fairmount Art Exhibition, coming in August.

“For the art exhibition’s 50th year, we’ll bring back some popular events from the past and add some new ones for all ages to enjoy,” says executive director Elizabeth Bolander. “A large part of our mission is to showcase the talents of the artists of our region while introducing visitors to a variety of art mediums, all in a welcoming, non-intimidating setting.”

This year the staff at Fairmount Center is happy to announce the return of Fridays at Fairmount throughout the run of the exhibit, held on Friday, August 7, and Friday, August 14.

“There’s always a big response to the exhibit and it’s growing every year,” says Elizabeth. “Fridays at Fairmount will include live music, a bar and, of course, art viewing. It’s a great way to wind down after a long week; take in the art and relax with a glass of wine.”

Another addition to the exhibit this year will be a coffee tasting on Saturday, August 15, featuring coffee from local family coffee roaster, HiLo Coffee Roasters.

“And because art is for everyone, we are introducing Family Day at the Fairmount Art Exhibit on Sunday, August 9,” says Elizabeth. “Visitors will enjoy a scavenger hunt and other engaging family activities. We offer so much for all ages year round, we never want to leave out the kids. It makes the exhibit, and art in general, more accessible for everyone.”

Your last chance to view the show will be Friday, August 21. All are invited to stay for the closing reception that evening from 6-8 p.m.

“At the closing event we’ll have food, a bar, and give out the awards at 7 p.m.,” says Elizabeth. “We’ve included many different ways to engage with the exhibits this year, including expanded viewing hours on weekdays for those who prefer a quiet, more contemplative experience. The exhibition is a celebration of art, and we want to make sure everyone with an interest has a chance to experience it.”

Elizabeth reminds us that the artworks on display at the exhibit are available for sale and a percentage goes back the Fairmount Center for the Arts.

“This allows us to continue our mission of educating and supporting the arts community,” she shares.

Fairmount Art Exhibition online entries will be accepted for review on Saturday, July 25, and Monday, July 27, at the Fairmount Center for the Arts Novelty location.

“The Fairmount Art Exhibit has a wonderful history of offering opportunities for both seasoned and beginning artists to show their works,” says Elizabeth. “This is a welcoming and accessible show. We encourage you to enter.”
