Summertime brings with it more movement and more opportunity for injury. StretchLab keeps you moving and feeling better, no matter which activities you take on.

Summer is finally here, school is out, vacations are scheduled and those summer activities are in full swing. Speaking of swing, how’s your tennis or golf game? Summer has a way of exposing achy joints and sore muscles as soon as we get back to those outdoor activities, including chasing the kids around the park and pool.

“We see lots of clients this time of year struggling with mobility for summer sports after a cold and sedentary winter left them stiff, sore and not so confident about even everyday movements,” StretchLab Pinecrest manager Soleil White says. “Assisted stretching at StretchLab will have you performing at your best during all your summer activities, along with the tasks of daily life.”

Regardless of age, the standing, sitting, bending and reaching we do as we move through our day takes a toll on the body. A consistent stretching routine helps everyone move better today and keep moving in the future.

Soleil reminds us that not all stretching is the same, and we can actually do more harm than good. At StretchLab, you are stretched by a trained expert, a Flexologist, who guides you through a series of stretches unique to your specific needs and goals.

“Every Flexologist is an extensively trained and certified expert with a background in fitness that may include bachelor’s, even master’s degrees in a related field, along with experience in other disciplines such as yoga, personal fitness and athletic training,” Soleil says.

StretchLab Flexologists complete an extensive, three-tiered certification process that includes more than 60 hours of in-person workshops, online training and many hands-on practice hours administering StretchLab’s signature 26 stretches to hone their skills.

Your Flexologist uses a stretching technique called proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, which uses resistance to target your body’s tissues and ligaments and improve muscle elasticity.

“We work off a tension scale of 1-10 for every stretch,” Soleil says. “We want the stretch to feel good, without pain, but move you beyond your typical range of motion so you are always progressing. You’ll leave feeling confident and prepared for whatever life may bring.”

Stretching on the Road

Summertime brings changes to our routines. Daily life is more active, unpredictable and sometimes stressful. Keeping up with a stretching routine helps you keep up with the activities of a busy summer and improves physical and mental health.

“With StretchLabs popping up all around the country, a membership guarantees you the opportunity to get in an assisted stretch no matter where your summer travels take you,” Soleil says. “Having access to the StretchLab app allows you to have a stretching routine designed just for you right at your fingertips. With StretchLab, you’re never alone. We’ll keep you stretching, and moving, wherever you are.”

Soleil recommends a 50-minute, 26-stretch initial session with your Flexologist to test your limitations and capabilities, then structure a plan around specific needs and goals.

“StretchLab is a personalized experience,” Soleil says. “No two stretches are the same. And as you improve, we continue to adapt and increase your strength and capabilities. Whether your goal is to improve in a sport, find greater comfort performing daily tasks, or remain independent as you age, let’s work together to achieve it.”
