Treating more than teeth

The dental team at Bennett Family Dental is committed to fostering an environment that goes beyond what’s happening in the mouth. Here’s why that matters.

Technology is a big part of the considerate dental experience at Bennett Family Dental. Dr. Jamie Bennett has invested in the equipment to perform same-day crowns and bridges, cone beam 3D X-ray imaging, as well as a soft-tissue laser and 3D printer. (Photography: Adrienne Rose)

The associate dentists at Bennett Family Dental share a passion for making sure patients feel seen and heard while fostering a friendly, welcoming environment where they educate and empower patients as partners in treatment.

“We treat the whole patient, not just the teeth,” says Dr. Mansukh Dhillon. “The mouth is like a mirror to the body. If there’s something going wrong in the body, it often shows up first in the mouth.”

Dr. Katelyn Kosileski concurs, citing studies that have found a correlation between gingival health and diabetes, cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer’s.

“Another connection that’s important to explore is airway issues,” she says. “If we find people are grinding their teeth, that is often an indicator of sleep apnea. The grinding is a means of them subconsciously trying to reposition their tongue during sleep so they can breathe. We address the situation sooner rather than later for the patient’s overall wellness.”

To assess the whole patient, the doctors spend time going over their medical history and lifestyle. They even take blood pressure with every visit as an indicator to monitor.

A Space That Feels Like Home

“We understand that not everyone loves coming to the dentist, so we go out of our way to create a welcoming environment where people feel comfortable, and, over time, like family,” says Dr. Dhillon. “Our goal is to build trust and positive relationships. There’s no need for anyone to feel anxiety. This is a safe space.”

They say they enjoy bringing Bennett Family Dental founder Dr. Jamie Bennett’s philosophy to life.

“Our focus is on prevention education,” says Dr. Katelyn. “In the long run, preventive dentistry is less aggressive and less expensive than restorative dentistry. We like to detect things like small cavities as soon as possible to keep them from becoming bigger problems down the road.”

Technology is also part of the considerate dental experience here. Dr. Jamie has invested in the equipment to perform same-day crowns and bridges, cone beam 3D X-ray imaging, as well as a soft-tissue laser and 3D printer.

“We feel that great dentists don’t make choices for the patients, they teach them so they can make good decisions for themselves,” says Dr. Katelyn. “When poor oral health is so detrimental to overall health, it’s a shame that around 50% of people have not been to the dentist in years. We often treat patients who haven’t seen a dentist in a long time and do so in a caring and non-judgmental way.”

About the Team

These delightful associate dentists grew up around the corner and around the world from the Westlake offices where they work.

Dr. Katelyn attended Magnificat High School, then earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The Ohio State University followed by her Advanced Education in General Dentistry certification from Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry.

When not at work at the Center Ridge office, you’ll find Dr. Katelyn spending time with her husband, listening to podcasts and working with the youth ministry at her church, St. Ambrose.

Born and raised in Punjab, India, Dr. Dhillon graduated with a degree in dental surgery in India. In 2023, she completed an advanced program in dental surgery from the University of Oklahoma and then moved to Cleveland.

When she’s not talking teeth, you’ll find her trying out local eateries or exploring trails—Hinckley Lake Loop is one of her favorite spots.

Bennett Family Dental has two Westlake locations: 27748 Center Ridge Road (440-835-2121) and 24525 Detroit Road (440-835-2020). Visit BennettFamilyDental.com for more information.
