Holiday feasting!

Blue Heron Brewery’s Christmas Take and Bake is a feast you don’t have to do a thing to pull off—except turn on the oven.

Mark Forman, Jack Nicholson’s character in Heartburn, couldn’t fool his date, food writer Rachel Samstat, when he bought dinner and tried to pass it off as his own culinary talent. Fortunately, Rachel found Mark’s efforts to be charming and amusing.

This Christmas, you can charm your family with a take-home, restaurant-quality, multi-course filet mignon meal from Blue Heron Brewery. It’s up to you whether you want to try to take credit for it.

And the best part may just be how easy it is.

Easy to pick up.

Easy to warm up.

Easy to clean up.

“Everything comes ready to go,” emphasizes Ben Erjavec, executive chef and co-owner of Blue Heron—and the real talent behind the holiday feast. “You come and pick it up—you don’t even have to get out of your car. We give you precise reheating instructions. The filets come seared and raw, and we give you instructions to cook them to whatever temperature you want to cook them to. So, if you and your wife want them medium rare and your kids want them medium well or whatever, there are directions for all of it.”

So, what if Aunt Harriet doesn’t like steak?

It doesn’t matter, because Blue Heron’s Christmas Take and Bake includes more than just filets. This is all included in the feast:

  • Six-ounce filet mignon and chicken marsala—one of each per person
  • Smoked Gouda and chive scalloped potatoes
  • Shrimp scampi with cheese tortellini and Alfredo
  • Roasted garlic and Parmesan broccoli with lemon butter
  • Blue Heron house salad with seasonal toppings
  • Freshly baked bread and roasted garlic compound butter
  • Homemade flourless chocolate peppermint torte
  • Red wine—two bottles for a family of 10
  • And, you can add Blue Heron’s popular Christmas Ale or other brews to your order for a reasonable price.

“It’s not only delicious and convenient, but it’s also a tremendous value,” Ben says. “If you try to buy 10 filets and 10 pieces of chicken and potatoes and shrimp scampi and pasta and all the other ingredients, you’re going to spend more than $300.”

Blue Heron’s Christmas Take and Bake costs only $159 for a family of four or $295 for a family of 10. Pickup is Tuesday, December 23, from 3-7 p.m., in Blue Heron’s parking lot.

The holiday season is far from over after you consume and sleep off your Christmas feast. As you wind down 2025 and celebrate the start of 2026, Blue Heron will provide the party—featuring scrumptious food, live music and an open bar.

“We’ve changed things up this year,” Ben announces. “Instead of our traditional buffet, we’re doing food stations, including a meat and seafood searing station—with tenderloin, jumbo shrimp and scallops, and a raw bar—with oysters, clams and crab legs, an antipasti display, a charcuterie station and a pasta bar. We’ll also have tableside desserts and late-night bites from the new Blue Heron on-the-go mobile cart. We’ll kick in the new year with a midnight toast and indoor fireworks.”

The Buck Naked band will provide live entertainment.

“They play a little bit of everything from country and ’90s rock to classic rock,” Ben says. “They’re fun, entertaining and crowd engaging.”

Ben calls the party a “one-stop shop for New Year’s Eve fun. For a reasonable price you get a full dinner, a live band and top- shelf open bar for five hours. Once you come here, you don’t have to leave.”

And you don’t have to drive.

That’s because Blue Heron is partnering with the Holiday Inn Express on Route 18 to offer discounted room rates for attendees—and a shuttle service from the hotel to the fun.

Once the new year starts—or even before—you can enjoy the white falling snow from inside a warm and cozy igloo on Blue Heron’s outdoor patio. The igloos comfortably seat up to eight people and come with the full Blue Heron dining and bar experience.

The rental fee is $25, with a food and beverage minimum. You can reserve your igloo online.

This winter, Blue Heron is partnering with Drees Homes, which will sponsor and decorate an igloo, Ben says.

As you begin your kids’ requests to Santa, Ben suggests the gift of an experience—like Blue Heron’s breakfast or lunch with princesses and superheroes on Saturday, February 7. The event includes a dance party, an autograph signing and crafts. Breakfast and lunch times are available. You can find more details online.

You can order the Christmas Take and Bake feast, reserve igloos and purchase event tickets at BlueHeronMedina.com. You can call Blue Heron at 330-870-BLUE (2583) and get the latest updates on parties and entertainment at Facebook: @blueheronmedina. Blue Heron Brewery is located at 3227 Blue Heron Trace, in Medina.
