Memorial for veterans
We believe the final farewell to anyone who has served in the United States military is more than just a ceremony.

Memorial Day is a few days away, but to me, the spirit of honor and remembrance is part of every service we provide throughout the year for local veterans. We believe the final farewell to anyone who has served in the United States military is more than just a ceremony. It’s a solemn tribute to duty, sacrifice and honor. Military honors are a powerful reminder that a loved one’s service is never forgotten.
I guide families through every step of the process, from securing veteran DD214 discharge papers to coordinating with the appropriate honor guard to ensure every detail is handled with military precision and respect.
Eligible veterans are entitled to honors at no cost. The service usually includes the playing of “Taps,” folding of the American flag, and presentation to the family. Depending on whether the deceased was career military or on active duty, the ceremony can be more elaborate.
The experience itself is unforgettable. I recall a service a few years back when the deceased was active in the Air Force Reserves. There were more than 100 members of the military, including generals, who attended. The gravesite service included a flyover by C-130 aircraft, an awe-inspiring moment for all in attendance.
Oftentimes people don’t know that veterans and their spouses are entitled to burial without charge in any national cemetery. The nearest one I’ve worked with is the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville in Medina County. Additional benefits include a government-issued headstone or marker as well as a Presidential Memorial Certificate.
For many families, these honors are an essential part of saying goodbye, a final salute of sorts to their service and a lasting legacy for those left to grieve their loss.
