Strength in numbers

MaxStrength Fitness clients can often feel the difference their personalized training protocol is making, but Annette Hazapis has the stats to prove it.

Thanks to Annette Hazapis’ overall strength gains at MaxStrength Fitness, her doctor was impressed that Annette’s DEXA bone density scan dropped significantly, so much so that she was able to go off her medications. Annette is pictured with MSF Trainer Dominic Coduti. (Photography: Adrienne Rose)

When it comes to physical empowerment and healthy aging, as Friedrich Nietzsche once said and Kelly Clarkson once sang, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”

With a clinical background in exercise science and physical therapy, MaxStrength Fitness Founder Jeff Tomaszewski created a protocol of two intense 20-minute workouts a week with specialized equipment designed to safely and efficiently fatigue the muscles so they can rebuild.

Navigating Life’s Storms Through Strength

Jeff likes to compare his unique approach to a seasoned sailor overcoming unpredictable storms.

“We learn and grow from life’s challenges,” he says. “The sailor emerges from the turmoil stronger, having learned something about the sea and himself, gaining wisdom and strength along the way. The metaphor inspires us to embrace life’s unpredictability, learn from every experience, and to become stronger and more resilient with each challenge. This is similar to the physical challenge we ask our clients to work through to build strength and bone density, increase metabolism, and stabilize their blood sugar.”

MaxStrength trainers help clients navigate strength training and reverse the aging process efficiently and safely.

“We stand side by side guiding them through the storms,” he adds. “And when the storms of life come, they’ll be prepared.”

Meet Annette

Recently retired from an executive position, 62-year-old Annette Hazapis is busy moving her grown daughters back and forth to college and career destinations in Colorado and Cincinnati. Two years ago, she was diagnosed with osteoporosis and a bulging disc that was causing pain in her back and knee.

“I knew it was time to see a professional and the trainer-led program at MaxStrength appealed to me,” she said. “The trainers have been amazing, creating a program geared toward building my core strength and addressing my back issue. It worked well. The issue has been corrected.”

And thanks to her overall strength gains, Annette’s doctor was impressed that her DEXA bone density scan dropped significantly, so much so that she was able to go off her medications.

One of the things she enjoys about the workouts is not having to worry about which exercises she should do or how much weight she should use.

“My trainer is always well prepared, pleasantly waiting for me with the plan for the day,” she says. “I feel stronger, more energized and capable in all aspects of my physical and mental well-being. I can’t say enough positives about my transformative experience here. Now I’m looking forward to a very active retirement.”

One of Annette’s trainers, Dominic Coduti, says she is the “picture-perfect example” of why they do what they do.

“We can tell people they are stronger based on our charting and the numbers and hard data, but the most rewarding comments come when they notice something in their daily living,” he explains.

“The intangible results are what we are after. The numbers are the easy part. Annette has had moments like this and has shared them with me over the couple years we have trained together and that to me is why we do what we do. She has been a pleasure to work with and I am excited to be a part of her journey.”
