In the last six years, HomeTown CLEaners owners Kenny Petersen and Daniel Krotz have cleaned more than 20,000 homes. And if yours hasn’t been one of them, they’d like to tell you why they’ve been so successful and what sets them apart from other house cleaners.

“We tell clients, ‘Our time is yours,’” Kenny says. “Along with giving them a great house cleaning, we’ve helped clients move boxes, pull weeds, I even stained an elderly client’s deck. What’s most important to you is most important to us. Our clients appreciate our attitude and work ethic.”

When you hear about how Kenny and Daniel started in the cleaning business, you’ll understand where that work ethic comes from, and why HomeTown Cleaners has rarely had to advertise.

That’s right, nearly all 20,000 homes in Northeast Ohio—a testament to Daniel’s and Kenny’s deep family connection that has made house cleaning not just a job but also a passion.

“This is a true family business,” Daniel says. “My sister Adeline and brother Eric both have worked with us through the years and we all learned everything about cleaning from our mother. She taught us the right way to clean and instilled a work ethic that has been with us since we were kids.”

Daniel’s mother has been cleaning houses for more than 48 years and still has a waiting list to get on her schedule.

“Mom taught us that in order to do this business right, we have to have our own definition of clean and learn that definition for each client,” Daniel says. “Everyone has desires of what’s important to them in their home. The more we know about your definition of clean, the better we can meet your needs.”

HomeTown Cleaners offers deep cleans, maintenance cleaning for weekly, bi-weekly or monthly clients, or special cleanings for a move-in or move-out.

“We have customers who are on a schedule, so we have lowered their fee after a while because the house is cleaner so our job doesn’t take as long,” Kenny says. “Customers also say they find themselves keeping their homes cleaner between our visits and that makes everyone happier.”

As cleaners, Kenny and Daniel take great pride in training their crews and love nothing more than happy customers who are beyond satisfied with the results. But as businessmen, building their business the right way is a top priority.

“We’ve been doing this now for six years and have earned a great reputation,” Kenny says. “We’re not the cheapest and we own that, but we believe that what we offer our customers is not only worth it to them, but also worth it to our crew members. We pay our crews well, so they stay with us, which means the same faces show up to our customers’ homes.”

Daniel and Kenny each have their own clients and crews, so you’ll see the same cleaning crew every time. Kenny says this helps everyone stay focused and avoid miscommunications on a client’s expectations.

“We form relationships with our clients and really get to know what they need. This streamlines the entire process,” Kenny says. “It’s really very simple. Our clients stick with us because we do a great job and they like us personally. They share in our ambition to grow, and they are rooting for us. We feel like we are all one big team and that’s been a truly great feeling.”

And because their original business plan has been so successful for Daniel and Kenny, they know they are ready for growth. They’d like to add at least one more crew, and that means they’re also looking to expand their client base. It begins with a phone call to Daniel to discuss your needs, then an in-person walk-through where you are given an estimate and your cleaning is scheduled.

“Every home has its own small details and different wants and needs for a clean,” Daniel says. “Christmas is a great time to get started with a deep clean before your guests arrive. Our crews are extremely efficient and, on average, are in and out of your home in about two hours for a maintenance clean, maybe more for a first time deep clean.”

From helping drag out the holiday decorations to making sure every corner of your home is ready for holiday guests, HomeTown Cleaners would love to be there.

“We have complete faith in our team’s abilities,” Kenny says. “And we’re looking to the future with confidence in our ability to stay connected to our clients while fulfilling their cleaning needs.”
