In 2024, Anna Dey started The franSPOT, offering complimentary consulting services that advise candidates how to pinpoint the right franchise system that will work for them.

Embarking on a new chapter through an entrepreneurial career is a thrilling and prideful experience. But for those at the starting line, the finishing ribbon not only seems too far away to cross, but also too daunting to rip through alone. With the help of franchise consulting company The franSPOT enterprising entrepreneurs can meet their goals toward owning a business from a true franchise expert. The franSPOT Owner Anna Dey knows from experience that starting out isn’t a race, but a marathon and it doesn’t have to be a solo act, but a team sport.

Anna started franchising in 2012 when she opened an Anytime Fitness with her parents. She was post-college in the first real job of her career but wanted something different. Anna promised her parents that she would quit her job, move home and invest the little money she had to do whatever it took for them to invest with her.

“They had never been entrepreneurs before. It was a very high risk for our family and a very intimidating choice,” Anna explains. “But they decided to partner with me, and we had that business for nine-and-a-half years before successfully selling it in 2021.”

After seeing the impact Anytime Fitness’ success had on her family, Anna was ready to do it again—this time on her own. She and her husband, Michael, opened their first Clean Eatz in Mentor in 2018. That success led to a second Clean Eatz location in Westlake and additional franchises, including Smoothie King, The Vitamin Shoppe and goGLOW.

Anna discovered a passion for franchising and a desire to help others pursue entrepreneurship as well. That goal led her to launch The franSPOT in 2024, offering complimentary consulting services that advise candidates on how to identify the franchise system best suited to them.

By combining their stories, her expertise, and access to a lucrative network of hundreds of brands through her parent company FranChoice, Anna provides her candidates with options that get results.

“I help people figure out if they’re ready and if so, what franchise business models align with their goals, their background and their interests,” Anna says. “Then I help them navigate working with those franchise systems to see if we can find a good fit.”

Anna looks into available business models, regional viability and risk tolerance. She knows firsthand what it takes to go through this process and offers tools that worked for her, like the ROBS 401k program, and other plans that help take the load off funding a small business.

Once the i’s are dotted, t’s are crossed and licenses are obtained, Anna loves to watch her candidates thrive and grow their businesses all over the country, especially in her home of northern Ohio. For example, Tyson and Sarah Stoll recently opened a D1 Fitness center in Toledo. Tyler Falvey, who was seeking a year-round franchise to complement his existing seasonal business, recently opened a Bloomin’ Blinds in Mentor.

For Anna, The franSPOT is a new way for her to give back to a community that has helped her flourish in a career she loves, and now she has the opportunity to extend that experience to others. Whether someone is fulfilling a lifelong dream of owning a business or is already a franchisee looking to diversify their brands, she is the expert who will not only walk her candidates through every step of the way but also help them bounce back when they hit a wall. Anna knows what that’s like and how to break through it.
