Top specialists join the team

UH Geauga Medical Center continues to enhance ease of access with the addition of specialized providers.

Whether it is managing chronic kidney disease, navigating a new cancer diagnosis, or requiring life-saving surgery, the goal of UH Geauga Medical Center remains the same: to keep patients mobile and doing the things they love.

For residents of Geauga County, the distance between home and high-level medical expertise just got much shorter. UH Geauga Medical Center, a campus of UH Regional Hospitals, has expanded its clinical team, adding five new specialists to its roster.

The addition of these providers—specializing in oncology, nephrology, women’s health, urology and vascular surgery—represents a strategic effort to ensure local patients no longer have to endure long commutes for essential treatments. By grounding these services at the Geauga Medical Center campus, the hospital is reinforcing its commitment to a “hometown” approach to advanced medicine.

“Our neighbors want care that fits into the rhythm of their lives,” says Jonathan Sague, Chief Operating Officer of UH Geauga Medical Center. “By bringing these specialties together in one place, we’re helping people move from a health concern to the right expert, without extra steps. It takes some of the worry out of the process and helps families stay focused on feeling better rather than navigating the stress of travel.”

A Focus on Healing

Expanding these services is about more than just adding names to a directory. It’s about honoring a commitment to compassionate, whole-person care. When specialized appointments are easier to reach and located in a familiar setting, it reduces the burden on both the patient and their support system.

“We know how much patients appreciate knowing their specialist is right here in Chardon,” said Marlea Miano, Chief Medical Officer of UH Geauga Medical Center. “By removing the barriers to reaching an expert, we are giving people more time to focus on what matters most: their recovery. Our physicians choose to practice here because they are rooted in this community and dedicated to providing a higher level of care close to home.”

Investing in the Geauga Community

Whether it is managing chronic kidney disease, navigating a new cancer diagnosis, or requiring life-saving surgery, the goal of UH Geauga Medical Center remains the same: to keep patients mobile and doing the things they love. With these five new providers now available onsite, the community can expect improved access to screenings, shorter wait times for consultations, and the peace of mind that comes with trusted, local expertise.

By utilizing a top team to save lives and improve the quality of life for its neighbors, UH Geauga continues to serve as a beacon of health for the region, ensuring that world-class medicine is never more than a few minutes away.
