"I feel powerful again."
Kim Mager wanted to be able to navigate aging with grace—and strength. Here’s how MaxStrength Fitness helped her rediscover her physical and mental power.

When it comes to her well-being, Kim Mager is thoughtful and intentional.
“I once read that you should do things that your 90-year-old future self would be thankful for,” she says. “I’ve always tried to follow that mindset.”
So, when she noticed in her mid-50s that her old training standby routines of bootcamp classes and running weren’t making her feel good anymore, it was time for a change. But finding the right fit was a challenge.
“There’s so much noise out there,” she says. “It feels like experts are telling you to do more and more. I wanted something simplified and sustainable. When I heard about MaxStrength Fitness’s professional trainer-led protocol of two 20-minute workouts a week on specialized progressive equipment, it sounded ideal.”
During her initial meeting with MSF Founder Jeff Tomaszewski, she says his knowledge and intensity were impressive.
“I’m not sure who was interviewing whom,” she says, laughing. “He said the trainers would show up and that I had to as well if I wanted to achieve my goals.”
Taking Control of Her Health
Five years ago, Kim stepped away from corporate America to take a full-time job with Cleveland-based Rustbelt, a woman-owned maker of custom furniture. She embraced her new chapter of creativity and balance.
But around the same time, she developed a painful condition known as frozen shoulder, which kept her from doing many of the things she loved.
“I went from doctor to doctor and no one could help me,” she says. “It was frustrating and limiting.”
Eventually, she discovered the condition is often linked to hormonal changes as women age, a realization that sparked a deeper commitment to take control of her own health.
“My trainer, Matt, adjusts my workouts to strengthen the shoulder and the pain has diminished,” she adds.
Now, two years into her experience at MaxStrength, the results speak for themselves. Kim is more toned, has lost weight and has more energy.
“I feel powerful again,” she says. “Being surrounded by professional trainers who know what they are doing has helped me regain confidence in my health and my future. Investing in yourself with individualized care means everything. We’re all worth that.”
Her 90-year-old future self would approve.
More Motivation
Jeff publishes a motivational e-newsletter for members filled with science-backed content and ideas to elevate the training experience. Going back to basics and asking yourself what’s your “why” is the best way to achieve momentum.
“Your why isn’t about doing more; it’s about living better, stronger and more independent for your days to come,” he says. “Your why should excite you—not guilt you. Get clear on it. Write it down and revisit it often.”
He says on the days people get tired, stressed and tempted to quit their training, their why is what keeps them showing up anyway.
