Here’s why the City of Beachwood is a premiere jewel in the Northeast Ohio suburban crown.

Long recognized as the premier retail corridor in Northeast Ohio, the City of Beachwood has a broader story—its identity as a vital destination for people to thrive, a true live-work-play environment. Just ask the 100,000 people who visit the city daily.

“Our focus is on elevating the experience, creating a place like nowhere else, where people want to spend their lives,” says Economic Development Director Cathy Bieterman. “We’ve cultivated a signature culture of high-end style, vibrant flavors, world-class medical facilities and superior recreational amenities. Our vision has been to discover the best ways to engage people and help them thrive.”

True Destination Shopping

At the center of the city lies a crowning jewel, Beachwood Place. It’s a sophisticated shopping and fashion destination, a magnet for national brands and eclectic local operators from Nordstrom and Zara to specialty boutiques and artisan retailers that add character and authenticity.

“We actively partner with developers, entrepreneurs, and property owners to ensure Beachwood remains a top-tier retail market. Investment in our retail corridors is an investment in our future,” says Mayor Justin Berns. For generations, it’s been the place for first job interview outfits, holiday errands, last minute gifts and a place for the community to gather.

According to Brent Willis, General Manager of Beachwood Place, now managed by Trademark Property Company, which oversees leasing and operations for the property, “Beachwood Place has a strong foundation and clear opportunity to evolve into a more experience-driven destination that reflects today’s customer. Our focus is on elevating the environment, strengthening the retail and dining mix, and creating a place where the community wants to spend time. We’re actively identifying targeted opportunities across the property to enhance the experience and bring new energy to the center.”

Joining Beachwood Place in the retail landscape are La Place at Beachwood Place, Pavilion Shopping Center and Beachwood Collective, which features the new Antica Italian Kitchen and Bar as well as other colorful restaurants, fitness studios and spas.

Local Makers, Personal Stories

While national brands anchor the city, local businesses lend Beachwood its wealth of diversity.

At Megan Piccione High Jewelry, craftsmanship meets personalization. A third-generation jeweler who grew up in the community, she creates custom pieces by appointment only. Each design is made in Ohio and tailored perfectly to the client.

“My work is commissioned, handcrafted and unique,” says Megan. “This city is a good fit for us because it’s so meticulously well kept. And the community is overwhelmingly supportive.”

A sense of individuality extends to the Ohio Artisans Collective, too, where more than 100 small businesses showcase their work, from woodworking and gourmet foods to clothing and gifts. Owner Jessica Brown launched the concept in 2020 to give makers a physical retail presence..

“Beachwood offered the foot traffic and support we needed,” she says. “We’ve been able to reach a new audience here.”

Anne Cate, known for its skyline-inspired bags and accessories, chose the city as a hub for both manufacturing and customer engagement.

“It’s the perfect intersection of convenience, accessibility and community,” says founder Anne Johnson. “It allows us to connect with customers who value quality and purpose.”

Calling all Foodies

National and local eateries abound here, from white tablecloth to fast casual, elevated comfort food to globally inspired cuisine, there’s something for every palate. Don’t miss Bar Italia, Cedar Creek Grille, Hyde Park, Giovanni’s, Heck’s, Nordstrom Grille, No Fork, P.F. Chang’s and the new Funshi, to name a few.

“The mix is intentional,” says Cathy. “It’s designed to complement the retail experience while encouraging visitors to stay longer, have more fun and come back often.”

A Vision for the Future

The continued growth of Beachwood follows the proactive vision of passionate city officials.

“We’re constantly reinvesting in our retail centers,” says Cathy. “For visitors, that means providing more reasons for them to come and engage, and for residents, it means being a community that continues to evolve alongside them. We are more than a shopping destination, bigger than a home to fine restaurants. The City of Beachwood offers a distinctly modern sense of place that continues to be shaped by the energy and progress of the surrounding region.”

Home to premier shopping, dining, world-class health care and recreational amenities, Beachwood is a vibrant and visionary municipality. Go to BeachwoodOhio.com for more information.

Adventure Awaits

Fitness, recreational amenities and an emphasis on wellness are a big part of Beachwood’s evolution. It’s become a hub for physical, social and emotional well-being.

You’ll find new additions, including a highly anticipated Crunch Fitness location at the Pavilion, joining established names like Orangetheory Fitness, CycleBar, Corus45 Fitness, the Mandel Jewish Community Center, T3 Performance, Cleveland Yoga and Lifetime Fitness. They offer a range of experiences that appeal to everyone from dedicated athletes to weekend warriors and casual participants.

For those who prefer their exercise in the great outdoors, Beachwood Fitness Park provides an impressive alternative.

“The park offers the unique opportunity to take your fitness routine outdoors in a free, easy and accessible way that doesn’t require a membership,” says Derek Schroeder, community services director for the City of Beachwood. “All exercises can be easily modified for beginners or those looking for more of a challenge, and with vibrant local artwork along the Fitness Park wall, it’s a welcoming space for people of all ages and abilities.”

The city also elevates self-care at its collection of spa destinations that blend innovation, luxury and personalized treatments. At Dino Palmieri Salon & Spa, guests enjoy a full-service experience of hair design, skincare and relaxation. Minutes away, LifeSpa offers a wellness-focused holistic escape with massages, facials and restorative treatments.

And people who enjoy their recreation by appreciating art will adore the many galleries here, from Wolfs Gallery to the Maltz Museum Gift Shop and Ohio Artisans.
