Kickstart your fitness journey in the new year with a boost of positivity and support. Discover how the Shaw JCC can help you achieve your goals and find lasting success.

People sit in a meditative pose on yoga mats in a bright studio.

Regardless of your age or fitness level, the Shaw JCC personal trainers work with you to help you achieve your goals.

It’s mid-January and statistics reveal that many of our resolutions and well-intentioned fitness goals have already been abandoned. But maybe we just need a little support and encouragement to help us stay on track.

At the Shaw JCC, you’ll find all the classes, equipment, trainers, camaraderie and motivation for a healthier 2025.

“We have more than 60 group workout classes included with membership along with basketball courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a full-service fitness floor and youth and adult programs,” Shaw JCC Marketing Director Shannon Piggott says. “Personal trainers are available to help keep you on top of your fitness goals by making it fun, engaging and effective.”

The last Wednesday of January, February and March of 2025, the JCC offers an interactive workshop to help members set smart goals—and habits and actions to achieve those goals.

“When setting resolutions, smaller goals are often better than lofty-outcome goals,” Fitness Director Anthony Ange says. “For instance, ‘I will attend spinning class once each week for one month,’ compared to ‘I will win the next Tour de France.’ This strategy works by building momentum and confidence over time.”

Free Full-Body Scans

So don’t throw in the towel just yet. February is fitness month at the JCC. If you join before February 1, you’ll receive two free InBody scans that will track your workout results and help keep you accountable. InBody is a non-invasive, full-body scan that quickly measures body mass. The InBody 570 delivers an in-depth analysis of your overall health and wellness in just 45 seconds. In addition to analyzing muscle mass, fat mass, and total body water, this equipment draws from additional metrics like visceral fat level, segmental fat analysis, and skeletal mass/bone density—and tracks your progress.

“Our trainers work with you, regardless of your age and fitness level, to help achieve your personal goals,” Anthony says. “Everyone is on a different fitness path and we’re here to get you where you want to go.”

Kick-Off to Camp Day

All summer long, kids want to go to Camp JCC. Sunday, January 19, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., is Kick-Off to Camp Day at the J. If you sign up on the 19th for traditional camp, you receive 10% off registration.

“We are a full-service community and wellness experience for your entire family,” Shannon says. “From school-age childcare to the ECE (Early Childhood Education center), kids camps, every style and level of workout, swimming, private lessons and personal training, sports leagues, and massage, we have it all. We also offer workshops and other enrichment programming, such as literacy programs, yoga retreats, and educational seminars on nutrition and other subjects. At the Shaw JCC, everyone is welcome regardless of religious affiliation.”

The JCC is waiting to provide you with all the help and support you need to pave the way to a healthier 2025.

“It doesn’t matter when or where you start your fitness journey,” Anthony says. “Just as long as you get started. So let’s have some fun.”
