Feel good anywhere, everywhere

Here’s how a personalized stretching protocol from StretchLab can change the way you feel and move.

With assisted stretch from StretchLab, people of all ages can feel their best no matter which activities they choose and where they choose to do them

Pickleball day, golf month—it’s all happening in August. If you’re struggling to perform these or any of your activities, one-on-one assisted stretching at StretchLab Fairlawn will result in increased mobility and endurance, improved balance and less joint pain.

More than half of the 4.8 million Americans playing pickleball regularly are age 50 and over. These players appreciate the lower impact on joints compared to traditional racquet sports. But the truth is, no matter what you’re doing, adding stretching to your routine will improve performance, recovery and overall well-being.

With consistent StretchLab one-on-one assisted stretching, you’ll feel better and perform better on the golf course, pickleball court or simply playing with the kids or carrying the groceries. Your trained StretchLab Flexologist is ready and waiting to take your game, and your life, to the next level.

Devin Huwig, lead Flexologist at StretchLab, has a background in exercise science, strength and conditioning, and coaching.

“I’ve always been involved in sports and active my whole life,” Devin says. “A past injury followed by months of rehabilitation showed me how proper stretching can change the lives of not only athletes, but everyone of every age.”

Post rehab, Devin discovered StretchLab to keep up with his stretching routine and was hooked.

“I decided I wanted to help not just athletes, but everyone with their performance goals,” Devin says. “I trained for my Flexologist certification and work with athletes of all ages along with clients who work in seated positions all day and experience neck and back pain. I also focus on senior clients who struggle to lift their leg to tie shoes or stand from a seated position. Everyone has different goals, and we reach them together.”

All StretchLab flexologists have a background in a related field like exercise science, kinesiology, yoga or personal training and complete an extensive, three-tiered certification process including extensive online coursework, in-person workshops and 20-plus practice hours administering StretchLab’s signature 26 stretches.

“Your initial stretch begins with a simple MAPS assesment,” Devin says. “MAPS determines Mobility, Activation, Posture and Symmetry to ensure your Flexologist focuses on the right muscle groups, and you get the most out of your session.”

Before that first stretch, a StretchLab team member will reach out to ask about your goals, lifestyle or past injuries.

“This is a personal, hands-on experience, not a one-stretch-fits-all,” Devin says. “For instance, the MAPS test allows us to measure your capability in terms of movement, but there’s great value in actually feeling your restrictions when we give you a stretch. We can feel your starting point and then feel your progress with every stretch. No workout class or yoga session offers this. I tell my clients that stretching is the most neglected form of fitness. Once you begin a stretching routine, I can see and feel the improvement right along with you. We also give you ‘homework,’ so you have the confidence to stretch on your own without fear of injury.”

Devin describes how golfers or tennis players, for example, come in with different imbalances that can cause discomfort depending on whether they play their sport right- or left-handed. Just a few assisted StretchLab stretches can provide long-term relief and increased mobility.

“Watching clients feel themselves getting better is the best part of my job,” Devin says. “Many clients say they do all these activities to stay healthy as they age but they were never stretching. They realize now how important it is to maintaining those activities and that this is how they can feel all the time. It’s eye- opening for people.”

At StretchLab, you can work with the same Flexologist for every stretch or take advantage of the different backgrounds and perspectives of other staff members.

“Every Flexologist is qualified but we all have different backgrounds that may be uniquely beneficial to you and provide different insight into your issues,” Devin says. “We keep extensive notes on each client so you’re not starting from scratch if you work with another Flexologist.”

Regardless of age, fitness level or physical limitations, a StretchLab Flexologist targets your specific goals to improve your performance in your sport, leisure activities and daily life.

“I see clients improve with every stretch,” Devin says. “I work with one gentleman who came in originally with a walker. After just a few weeks he freely walks to the stretching bench on his own with confidence. StretchLab has changed his life, one stretch at a time.” However you move through life, feel good with StretchLab.
