Age isn't just a number

Laurie Delgado, Spry Senior • December 17, 2024

At Spry Senior, you’re so much more than just your age.

Spry Senior is for people aged 58 and over who are looking for a connection with a dedicated medical provider who takes the necessary time to provide complete medical care in a convenient and seamless experience. Pictured left is patient Sheila Johnson being welcomed by Clinical Associate Michelle Cummings.

Older adults are drawn to Spry Senior because they can have a doctor focused only on people their age and with their needs.

That expertise, coupled with the welcoming environment and empathetic care team, makes patients like Harry Werner, Sheila Johnson, Mary Bowman and Walter Winston fans of Spry Senior’s special approach to healthcare.

Harry first heard about Spry Senior—a primary care practice solely focused on those age 58 and older—at the Solon Senior Center.

“There was a presentation on Spry Senior, and I thought I’d try it,” he says. “With my previous doctor, it would take several weeks to get an appointment, and she could only spend 15 minutes with me.”

He was shocked when he called Spry Senior and got in right away. Then he met Jeffrey S. Rosenberg, MD, and knew he’d made the right call.

“The Solon location is close to me, so it’s convenient,” Harry says. “Dr. Rosenberg spends all the time with me that I need—I never feel rushed. Health and medicine affect people differently as they get older, and Dr. Rosenberg is aware of that.”

He says he can always get in the same or the next day, and he appreciates that the care team—including Michelle Cummings, clinical associate—knows him by name.

He’s not alone, either. Thanks to Spry Senior’s welcoming environment, Sheila Johnson actually likes going to the doctor now.

“I feel special when I walk in,” she says. “I have a good rapport with everyone, and we can have fun, even as we’re talking about my health issues.”

She’s grateful for Dr. Rosenberg’s persistence in addressing her health issues.

“I have had a lot going on, particularly with my blood pressure,” she explains. “I’ve been coming in every month as we work to get it lowered.”

The support from Spry Senior extends beyond appointment times, Sheila says.

“Dr. Rosenberg and Michelle call to check up on me and make sure I’m doing the things I need to be doing. I appreciate that,” she says. “It’s not been an easy journey, but they have helped me through it.”

Mary Bowman, who has been going to Spry Senior for three years, also appreciates Dr. Rosenberg’s determination to solve difficult health issues.

“I have several health problems, and with my previous provider, I felt like just a number,” she says.

Not so with Dr. Rosenberg.

“Dr. Rosenberg is always empathetic and looks me in the eyes,” Mary says. “He goes beyond just addressing my symptoms. He wants to know what I’m feeling so he can figure out why I may be feeling it and what he can do about it.”

She says when she first began seeing Dr. Rosenberg, he said he’d help address the issues related to fibromyalgia.

“He said we’d work on them one by one, and we have. He’s a skilled physician, especially with patients like me with many problems,” she adds.
