he team at Guhde Flooring America & Design Studio harnesses the power of design magic to make client wishes come true.

A stack of books sits on a wooden table, next to a lit candle and a warm cup of coffee or tea.

Transforming a home takes vision, expertise and a team that knows how to bring dreams to life. Designer Jillian Brickman of Guhde Flooring America & Design Studio incorporates vision and craftsmanship along with decades of experience to create spaces that feel nothing short of magical.

What if transforming your home was as easy as rubbing a magic lamp?

With the talent, vision and decades of experience from the team at Guhde Flooring America & Design Studio, dreams becoming reality feels like a genie granting wishes, one stunning space at a time.

Makers of Magic

Of course, every genie needs a little muscle behind the magic. And all the key players at Guhde play to their strengths.

Mike Guhde, Jr.

General Manager

Magical Power: Knowledge

Literally growing up in the business, Mike gained his hands-on knowledge on job sites alongside his father, Mike Sr. With decades of experience and a deep knowledge of products and installation, his technical expertise ensures every design isn’t just beautiful; it’s also built to last. He brings reassurance to clients, helping them understand which materials would work best for their lifestyles. As an expert in the field, with each job, no matter how big or small, he explains installation methods in clear, reassuring terms and brings confidence and clarity to what can be a complicated and overwhelming process.

Magical Power: Creative Vision

Clients will often think of her as the genie of vision, looking at living spaces and imagining the possible. Oftentimes, clients will think they want one type of home renovation, then by the end of the consultation with Jillian, end up with a completely different concept.

“My design background helps me to guide clients through colors, textures, and tones by mixing and matching elements of a space to best reflect their unique taste,” she says. “Little details mean a lot.”

The Installation Team

Magical Power: Technical Expertise

“Our installers are highly seasoned,” says Mike. “They’ve already seen everything that can be encountered on a job and are excellent at coming up with solutions. They’ve all been with us for decades and act with the utmost professionalism.”

Communication is also a magic power of these technicians. They connect with homeowners every day on the job and let them know what to expect.

Their Wish, Granted

The first-floor renovation of this 1980s split-level in Mayfield Heights took it from dark and dreary to warm and cheery.

The transformation, which encompassed the living room, kids’ bath, half bath and primary bathroom, began with a mission.

“There was a lot of clutter,” says Jillian. “From an aesthetic perspective, we felt the fireplace in the living room, where they spend the most time, was the focal point and built from that. To manage the daughters’ toys, it was finished with white Shaker Cabinets with custom stained wood countertops and floating shelves to match the existing chunky wood mantle. We got rid of the dated brown tiny tiles on the floating hearth and replaced them with black tile for a luxurious statement.”

Soft white walls matched the brickwork in the fireplace and visually enlarged the space. A lighter, brighter pale gray carpet made the room feel like new again.

The primary bath is a showstopper. Although it is not large, Jillian and the client designed a bold tile treatment on the focal wall overlooking the bathtub.

“We gutted this room and started from scratch,” she says. “Fun and playful was our esthetic and we brought that to life with a multicolor tile treatment with gold flaking appropriately named Snake by Emser. This is modern transitional design with pizazz. We paired the artsy patterned back wall with glossy white tiles and black rectangular floor tile. A bold hunter green cabinet and brass lighting, hardware and faucet fixtures complete the story.”

At Guhde Flooring America & Design Studio, every project starts with a wish and ends with a transformation that feels almost too good to be true. Wish: A decluttered and stylish design that finally felt like home for this family.

 Wish granted.

The Genie InsideArtificial Intelligence

Visualization is the key to great design. Kitchen and Bath Designer Jillian Brickman has always been ahead of the curve and years ago began using AI-powered tools to help her clients envision what their homes could look like after thoughtful transformation.

She says thanks to 3D design software 2020, they can first draw precise room layouts, integrate manufacturer catalogs for quoting and then generate photorealistic images.

“People love it that in real time we can swap out different selections, from flooring to countertops, cabinets and more,” she says. “I help them narrow selections and create a unique vision. And since our showroom features all that we offer, we help them navigate the design studio to see the samples in real life. I find it rewarding to have clients feel confident and excited about the project from beginning to end, thanks to the power of AI visualization.”
