Taking time for your health

At Spry Senior, time is a commodity shared generously with patients. But that’s not all this older adult-focused primary care center offers.

Spry Senior is redefining health care. With longer appointment times, personalized care and enriching community activities, Spry Senior is more than just a primary care center for adults aged 58 and older. From coordinated specialist appointments to complimentary community classes, Spry Senior supports your well-being at every step.

You Can’t Rush a Good Thing

When Terri Sullivan’s physician retired, she was searching for a new one. She tried one practice but didn’t feel like the doctor had enough time to listen to her.

A friend mentioned that at Spry Senior, there’s no rushing.

“I was skeptical, but it was exactly like she described,” Terri says. “My first visit was nearly an hour.”

She instantly connected with Mary Massie-Story, MD.

“She’s brilliant! She took time to talk to me and asked good questions,” Terri says.

The connection to MetroHealth was a bonus. Terri needed some appointments with specialists, and while she appreciates that Spry Senior will coordinate visits to any local hospital or provider, she prefers MetroHealth.

“All of my specialist appointments were scheduled before I left,” she explains. “Dr. Massie-Story gave me a printout with all of my appointments listed and why I was seeing them.”

Terri also started attending the SilverSneakers class at Spry Senior because she learned it was free for patients. She goes twice a week and enjoys getting to know other “regulars” on a first-name basis.

Walking Alongside You

Mark Succheralli learned about Spry Senior from the MetroHealth website—and has been seeing Kristen Cornes, DNP, MSN, ever since.

“I like that she takes time with me. There’s no waiting forever in the waiting room or rushing during your appointment,” he says. “We have candid conversations, and she shows concern and compassion.”

The fact that they help navigate his complete care is a huge draw for Mark.

“I’ve never had this level of coordination before. They take care of scheduling everything right there, so you know where you’re going before you even leave the office,” he says. “Everything is so personal. They see you as an individual, not just a patient.”

He’s also a fan of the staff.

“Everyone there is great. I don’t have anything negative about the Spry Senior experience,” Mark says.

Healthy Body, Healthy Mind, Healthy Spirit

Faith Reel likes Spry Senior’s whole approach to patients and treatments.

“It’s not, ‘see the doctor for 10-15 minutes and then out the door,’” she says.

Faith came to Spry Senior because her physician was retiring. After reading about Spry Senior in Mimi Magazine, she decided to try it. She immediately knew she’d made the right decision.

“The first appointment was very informative, and I liked Dr. Massie-Story right away,” she says.

Faith has been a patient for two years and has referred several friends to Spry Senior.

“I tell them that appointments aren’t rushed, and you can talk to Dr. Massie-Story about anything,” Faith shares. “She truly listens and cares. She wants to do her best to care for you.”

Faith likes the free activities offered at the center, too. She attends the SilverSneakers class and participated in one of the recent Puzzle Paloozas.

“The activities are enjoyable, making connecting and staying fit easier,” she says.

A Place for Healthy Connections

It was love at first sight for Judy Martin. When she met Dr. Massie-Story, she knew she had found the right doctor.

“Dr. Massie-Story is the cat’s meow. She’s a beautiful woman and so happy and energetic,” Judy says. “We talked and giggled through my health history. She lets you talk and truly listens to what you say.”

Judy came to Spry Senior after learning about the practice at her senior club. Her previous doctor had moved further away, so she needed to find someplace new.

She also has attended many of Spry Senior’s community activities, including bingo, cardio drumming, cornhole, line dancing and tai chi. The community aspect of Spry Senior means a lot to her.

“I don’t get to see my kids as much as I’d like, so Spry Senior is a place to connect. I enjoy talking to others and having things to do,” she says.

The above-and-beyond nature of the practice is a benefit for her, too.

Whenever she needs a ride to her appointment, she loves that Spry Senior sends its van to pick her up.

“They have a gentleman—Mike—who picks me up in the Spry Senior van,” she explains. “He’s so pleasant. He comes to the door, helps me down the stairs, and drops me off right at the door.”

Spry Senior has three locations serving Northeast Ohio: 15201 Pearl Road in Strongsville, 14770 Snow Road in Brook Park and 5855 Harper Road, Suite A, in Solon. For more information and to schedule an appointment, visit SprySenior.com or call 440-592-6200.
