Sip, savor and celebrate at Via Roma

Via Roma Event Center & Ristorante has become a community gathering place for all of life’s moments.

Via Roma Event Center and Ristorante has become one of the area’s premier locations for all things fun, food and memorable. Whether it’s a holiday party, a wedding celebration or a cozy night for two, the team is ready to welcome you. (Photography: Adrienne Rose)

Via Roma Event Center & Ristorante is christening spring in spectacular fashion with new menus, sure-fire events, crave-worthy dishes and seasonal cocktails.

“Over the last year, it seems like people in the area have changed from thinking of us as a ‘special occasion’ place to a restaurant they have made their go-to for scrumptious dishes any day of the week,” says General Manager Josh Coyle. “A creative menu that is consistently executed along with our warm and welcoming staff are big reasons for our growing popularity.”

Italian dishes with modern flair mean those who favor the classics, like meatballs and pasta, will quickly find their favorites. Josh says his personal favorite is the Sachetti Porcini (which in Italian means “beggar’s purses”) with caramelized onion, mushroom, fig balsamic and pecorino cheese.

“The ideal meat-and-potatoes dish for meat lovers is our Steak Frites,” says Josh. “It’s a classic flat iron steak sliced thin, piled high on rosemary and parmesan frites, then topped with asparagus, tomato bearnaise and house demi. People also rave about our Chicken Parmesan and Fritto Misto appetizer of lightly fried squid and shrimp with fennel, lemon zest and a spicy chili aioli.”

Tuesday nights have swung legendary here thanks to The Parmesans, a deal of two Parmesan dishes for $39—choose from classic chicken, veal or eggplant.

Look for these dishes and more on the newly introduced Locals menu, which is served during happy hour, a twist on an early bird menu. Order specials and half-price appetizers and drinks from Monday through Friday, 3-6 p.m., and all day Sunday.

Wildly Inventive Cocktails

The crafty barkeeps have a ball conjuring up unique cocktails. For a hearty hint of mint, this month don’t miss the playful Not a Grasshopper.

“We combine vanilla vodka with chocolate liqueur, vanilla mint liqueur, crème de menthe, créme de cacao and espresso liqueur topped with fresh mint sprigs,” says Aaron Cabrera, whose background includes starting up speakeasy-style bars. (Spoiler alert, it tastes exactly like the iconic Andes chocolate mints, only much, much better.)

Another spring fave is the Appletini, a tantalizing interplay of vodka, sour apple pucker schnapps, tangy ginger liqueur, apple syrup made in house and lemon topped with an aromatic smoke bubble.

A Packed Social Calendar

Nothing says St. Patrick’s Day like a brunch bash. Don’t miss Via Roma’s version on Sunday, March 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dubbed the Emerald Mixtape Brunch, dig into a buffet of Irish specialties (Bailey’s French Toast, anyone?), bottomless green mimosas and a throwback DJ spinning millennial singalong tunes. Cost is $39 per person.

The following week, the talent booking department at The Grotto at Via Roma has outdone itself. Henceforth Comedy, a high-energy standup comedy show, will headline on Thursday, March 26.

And get ready to party like it’s 1999 with Cleveland’s own Disco Inferno on Friday, March 27.

“We also throw amazing Fish Fries through the end of Lent with Alaskan pollock and shrimp and scallop specials,” says Josh.

I Do, I Do

With a host of glamorous weddings under its belt, Via Roma has earned a reputation as the area’s premier wedding venue.

“Our grand ballroom holds up to 350 guests,” says Josh. “Couples and their guests enjoy the private entrance, bridal suite, private restrooms, stunning chandelier, gold chain backdrop wall and elegant décor.

The Florence Room suits smaller weddings for up to 130 guests. If couples want something unique, they can throw their wedding within The Grotto on the lower level. And for more intimate micro-weddings, couples have also rented the Cantina Wine Cellar for up to 20 guests.

Josh and his team’s concierge service includes wedding planning. They do it all, from tables and chairs to linens and centerpieces, the cake, lighting, music and photography. All you have to worry about is showing up.
