In business for more than a quarter- century, Kaye Construction has seen home remodeling trends come and go, but there is one thing that never goes out of style: wood.
Whether your style is modern organic, traditional, rustic, mid-century modern or minimalist, wood tones play a major role in making your décor interconnected. From rich, dark hues of walnut to lighter, natural shades of oak, there are myriad tones and grains available, ensuring there is a type of wood that fits every design style.
“Wood adds a layer of depth and warmth to a space, giving it character and charm,” says Josh Kaye, who, along with his brother Joe and father Ron, owns Kaye Construction. “Many of our remodeling jobs consist of changing the wood tones of cabinetry and flooring to give a home a completely new look.”
The company just finished a whole-house remodel in Avon Lake, with a brand-new kitchen, two bathrooms and a staircase, on which a rich, dark wood tone is carried throughout the house in both cabinetry and flooring.
As soon as you walk through the door, you are greeted by a custom staircase that sets the tone for the rest of the home.
“There definitely is a wow factor when you walk in, as we built on site a custom staircase mixing oak with brushed nickel piping for the railings and used the same LVT flooring on the risers and threads, then installed stair caps that match the railing,” Josh says.
In the kitchen, the crew installed frameless alder wood cabinets in a dark stain contrasted with a white quartz countertop that continues all the way up the backsplash for a streamlined, modern design.
“These are our most popular cabinets right now. They are a modern take on a more traditional design,” Josh says. “The wood really brings out character.”
Though Kaye did not increase the footprint of the kitchen, the team added more storage by installing corner cabinets with pullouts and 12-inch tip-up cabinets on top with glass doors and LED lights for both a decorative touch and to provide more storage.
“The cabinets we installed offer smart storage options, including a corner unit that replaces the traditional Lazy Susan cabinet, where often items go to never be seen again,” Josh says. “Here, everything is more organized and easily accessed.”
In addition to the kitchen, just as much care and detail went into the two bathrooms that were renovated, with a free-standing tub tucked in a corner to maximize every square foot in the master bathroom taking center stage.
“With every home remodel we do—whether a new kitchen, bathroom, room addition, refinished basement or outdoor deck—we always help homeowners find their own style, mixing some elements that are on-trend with classic styles for a renewed, timeless appeal,” Josh says.
