The Showcase Home Group at eXp Realty continues to lead the Medina area in home sales—and there are 50 solid reasons why.

If volume and value are the most important indicator metrics to watch in a real estate market, Medina is sitting pretty.

Year after year, more homes are selling here—and they’re selling for more. Medina sale prices are up about 7%, reflecting a steady growth pattern that’s well ahead of the national average.

Behind the Boost

“Several factors are working in our favor,” says Medina-based Amy Hoes, who leads the 50-agent team Showcase Home Group at eXp Realty. “What’s known as the mortgage lock-in effect—the reluctance of homeowners with ultra-low interest rates to sell and take on a new mortgage at today’s higher rates—is beginning to loosen. A few years ago, roughly 60% of homeowners with mortgages had rates below 4%; today that figure is closer to 40%.”

She explains the disincentive to move is starting to wear off. “We’re continuing to see growth both in the number of homes coming on the market and in home values,” she says. “Medina also offers something increasingly valuable: the ability to spread out without giving up convenience. Buyers relocating from Cleveland or other cities are willing to travel a little farther for excellent schools, more property and a charming downtown where they can shop and dine. This is all at a time when more and more people are working remotely and no longer commute to an office.”

And while conventional wisdom says the real estate market slows as summer winds down, Amy and her husband Kurt report that for them that’s not the case.

“Once people get back to their routines, we see things actually pick up a little,” he says. “Heading into the holidays, we can see a slowdown, but even then we cater to more motivated buyers who are moving into the area.”

Winning Team Dynamics

Kurt manages the team’s numbers and says its collective knowledge has become one of its greatest assets.

“When a problem surfaces, our team works quickly to move toward a solution that’s worked in the past,” he says. “Since we solve problems faster and more nimbly, that translates to a smoother, more productive and satisfying client experience.”

That team mentality is especially important to Atalie Hoes, Amy and Kurt’s daughter, who joined the business in March 2025. In her first year she sold 11 homes, including eight in her first five months, with several more transactions underway, an amazing track record for a new agent.

“I credit much of my success to the supportive people around me,” says Atalie. “I have the best mentors in the world. They’ve helped me learn by doing, and every situation over the last year has made me stronger.”

Real estate, she’s learned, rarely goes exactly to plan. Complicated loans, unexpected complications and negotiations can send a deal in directions no one thought of.

“You have to stay confident, keep the process moving and always work in the best interest of your clients,” she says. “What I love most about my job is forging relationships. I take the time to find out everyone’s stories, what brings them to a new home. My goal going forward isn’t to chase a transaction count, but rather to keep learning, building relationships and becoming better.”

Not surprisingly, the Showcase Home Group at eXp Realty, as a whole, is also hitting it out of the ballpark. According to national real estate metrics, their output is nearly double that of the next closest competitors in this market.
