Pickleball injuries on the rise
Pickleball places stress on joints, tendons and muscles. What used to be known as tennis elbow has earned a new nickname in Dr. Deeb Alawan's office: Pickle elbow.

All the quick pivots, lateral bursts and repetitive overhead motions involved in the fastest growing sport in the U.S.—pickleball—are also causing a surge in injuries. The activity places stress on joints, tendons and muscles. What used to be known as “tennis elbow” has earned a new nickname in my office, “pickle elbow.”
I like to say our goal here is to get people back in the game they love faster, help them stay there longer, perform at their best, and avoid further injury. Treating pickleball injuries requires more than a one-size-fits-all approach. That’s why I’ve put together a comprehensive arsenal of proven, noninvasive modalities designed to reduce pain and restore function.
I don’t want patients to have to manage their pain with long-term medications or surgical intervention. My holistic treatment addresses the root of the issues.
Chiropractic adjustments are the foundation, helping realign the spine and joints to improve mobility and reduce stress. From there, I incorporate targeted soft tissue therapies such as active release techniques.
To address inflammation and pain, I often go with advanced therapies, including cold laser therapy and a computerized spinal decompression table. These modalities accelerate healing at the cellular level while reducing discomfort.
From a rehabilitation standpoint, I take the time to guide patients through customized corrective exercises that strengthen supporting muscles, improve flexibility and enhance balance.
