Find your style

Kaye Construction bucks the trends by zeroing in on the style that defines each home they work on.

Just when you start liking the small mosaic flooring tiles, the large-scale 12-by-24 tiles are now popping up everywhere in home décor magazines and on social media. And if you changed your fixtures and knobs to brushed nickel recently, look out for gorgeous new champagne gold kitchen and bath fixtures. What does all this mean for homeowners? Trends come and go faster than you can finish a room renovation, so stick to what you really love.

At Kaye Construction, this local business helps homeowners find their own style, mixing some elements that are on-trend with classic styles for a renewed, timeless home.

For the Strongsville kitchen pictured here, the homeowner picked out cream-colored cabinets, which were complemented by a whitewash-stained maple island and a farmhouse sink—a nod to French Country design.

“We did not add any square feet to the kitchen but did add lots of lighting—including dimmable recessed lighting, pendant lights and under-cabinet lighting—to make it feel brighter and bigger,” says Josh Kaye, who, along with his brother, Joe, and father, Ron, owns Kaye Construction. “We also installed a 9-foot slider door leading to the patio, which allows in more natural lighting. The home now has a modern feel but is still classic.”

The homeowner opted for a COREtec stone LVP flooring, which is the best of both worlds. “It is a luxury vinyl plank with pieces of stone in it, so you get the look of tile but the comfortability of a padded vinyl plank,” Josh explains.

For the finishing touches, Kaye used a mix of metals including a brushed nickel faucet and rubbed bronze doorknobs.

Since the kitchen design was neutral, the tile backsplash added the wow factor. The hexagon stone tiles, in shades of blues, greens, grays and browns, add pops of color and draw everything together.

“We always tell clients either to pick a neutral backsplash or have it pop, but don’t do something in middle,” comments Josh.

There are many renovations you can make without increasing the footprint of your home that will make it function better. For those who need more space, Kaye Construction also specializes in home additions.

At Kaye Construction, the goal has always been to not just beautify homes but to also make them more functional by changing the footprint and flow.

Home additions come in all shapes and sizes. From adding a second-floor master bedroom and bathroom to building a sunroom on the back of your home, you will enjoy these newfound spaces for years to come.

The company recently built an addition on another Strongsville home.

“We added two bedrooms, a bathroom and sitting room in the back of the house,” Josh says. “The homeowners wanted a place where their parents could move in and age in place.”

In total, 700 square feet were added to the home’s footprint inside, and Kaye also built two decks outside.

“In the sitting room, we needed to add a beam for structural support. We added another beam and covered them both in wood, so they looked like part of the design,” says Josh.

A family-owned business, Kaye Construction likes to support other family businesses and is proud to offer products made in the USA. Most recently, it has teamed up with Crystal Cabinets, a Minnesota-based company, to offer semi-custom cabinets for more wood options and customized colors for home remodeling projects.

“We specialize in kitchens and home additions from concept to completion,” Josh says. “So, let our family help yours.”
