Electrical safety check

When the weather turns, it’s a good time to have your electrical system inspected by Streb Electric.

As soon as the temperatures take a plunge, you can expect your heating bills to escalate. The service technicians at Streb Electric are dedicated to helping homeowners keep the bills in check, while enjoying the coziest indoor environment possible.

“Now is a good time of year to inspect your heating unit to make sure it is operating the most efficiently and not putting too much strain on your electrical circuits,” says Ryan Streb, who as general manager is the third generation of family running the company. He joined after serving eight years in the U.S. Army as an EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Specialist. “Homeowners are pretty good about getting a clean and check scheduled from their HVAC company, but it’s also a good idea to get a Whole House Electrical Safety Inspection. If we can find problems early, they’re usually easier and cheaper to correct.”

During an inspection, a Streb electrician will comprehensively assess your home’s electrical system from top to bottom.

“We go over every aspect of a system, from the wiring and outlets to circuit breakers and the main panel,” says Ryan. “The goal is to identify safety hazards and replace any outdated components that could cause future problems. We keep your system up to code and operating at peak efficiency. Since homeowners don’t often know a lot about their electrical system, our techs take the time to explain everything they do on a visit.”

Comfy, Cozy

Ryan notes this is the time of year that homeowners take steps to add cozy heat to parts of their home. For instance, his crew handles the electrical hookups for radiant heat systems installed beneath flooring, particularly in primary bathrooms.

Other easy upgrades are having Streb electricians install a smart thermostat you can program for maximum comfort and savings, as well as dimmer switches.

“Dimming an LED bulb to 50% can save up to 62% in energy,” says Ryan. “It also provides a more inviting atmosphere and mood to a room.”

Home Energy Monitoring

Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to your energy usage.

“We’ve installed energy monitoring systems to customers’ main panels,” says Ryan. “They allow you to monitor all the electrical usage throughout your home in real time to see where the actual amperage is being drawn from. You can monitor the system from your smartphone. Oftentimes people are shocked by what’s hogging the most electricity. And that allows them to make informed changes to save money and energy.”

Sense, the brand Ryan says they prefer installing, can isolate energy usage patterns. You can tell things like what time your kids got home last night, or who left the basement light on.

“You can also set custom notifications, such as being alerted to things like whether your sump pump is working, or you left your flat iron on, remotely,” he adds.

The Benefits of Membership

No matter the season, the Streb family has always made it a mission to put its customers first. They are all about transparency in pricing and services. That’s why, they introduced the Safety & Savings Plan.

For a blanket fee of $16 per month, members receive different levels of discounts and savings, including lifetime warranties on installations and annual electrical safety inspections.

“Our culture has always been to hire caring people and train them well,” says Ryan. “We treat them like family, and they likewise treat customers like family. We’ve been in business for 50 years and are grateful for our loyal customer base.”

Streb Electric is headquartered in Willoughby and serves homes and businesses throughout Lake, Geauga and Cuyahoga counties. Call 440-953-5819 or visit StrebElectric.com for more information.
