For anyone looking to spend their charitable dollars here at home, the 2023 Lake County YMCA Dream Car Giveaway includes a package valued at $35,000 that includes a loaded Chevy Malibu LT, and a $500 gas card.

“It’s our hope that the winner will enjoy some fun trips around Ohio, maybe go someplace they’ve always been dreaming of in their new car and with many tanks of gas,” says Kelly Penzenik, director of marketing and communications for the Lake County YMCA.

Community Outreach Programs
Kelly hopes people in the community appreciate the number of free programs they provide to all members of the community.

“This fundraiser supports the programs we offer, such as the Summer Learning Loss Prevention Program, after-school child care, summer camps, safety around water, the Leaders Club for volunteerism and Arthur Holden Leadership Institute, as well as morning coffee gatherings for seniors,” says Lake County YMCA CEO Dick Bennett. “We are also constantly upgrading our playgrounds, two outdoor pools and equipment for the best member experience.”

He says the YMCA is extremely grateful to the Chevy Network of Dealers and Classic Chevrolet in Mentor, generous and longtime friends, for stepping up and donating the amazing Malibu to help raise critical dollars needed to support the community.

Last year’s campaign raised more than $250,000, and with growing need, it is hoped it will raise even more this year.

All proceeds will go right back into supporting Lake County’s most vulnerable residents. No one is ever turned away from Y membership or programming because of inability to pay.

“It’s heartening to see the level of support our residents have for each other,” says Dick. “Last year our programs serviced 27,092 people in Lake County at every level of the community, from toddlers to teens and seniors. Our programming is robust and dynamic. We are a cause dedicated to strengthening (and protecting) the spirits, minds and bodies of our friends and communities.”

John McCurdy of The Chevy Network and Classic Chevrolet Mentor says keeping its charitable efforts local by partnering with the Y is a perfect fit with their mission.

“This is the biggest event we support and for good reason,” says John, noting they have partnered with this annual fundraiser for more than 10 years. “We are a Lake County business that likes to spend its charitable dollars helping the good people of Lake County.”
