One of the most popular requests Kaye Construction receives is for in-law suites. These additions can be as simple as a private bedroom and bathroom or as extensive as a fully independent living space with its own living room, kitchenette and even a private deck.
“In-law suites give family members a private area within the house to have their own space and live independently,” Josh says. “They are a cost-effective alternative to the long-term expenses of assisted living or nursing care homes.”
For one Strongsville homeowner, Kaye Construction added 700 square feet to the home’s footprint last year.
“The homeowners wanted a space where their parents could move in and age in place,” Josh says. “We added two bedrooms, a bathroom and sitting room in the back of the house, along with an adjacent deck.
“Just like we do for all our additions, we seamlessly blended it in with the existing home. For this job, we needed to add a beam for structural support in the sitting room, so we added another beam and covered them both in wood. It looked like part of the design and was meant to be there.”
