When dreams take root

What began as a college side hustle has grown into Rocscape Landscaping, a trusted full-service lawn care, hardscape and outdoor living design company built on relationships and quality work.

A stack of books sits on a wooden table, next to a lit candle and a warm cup of coffee or tea.

Rocscape Landscaping offers residential and commercial landscaping services including lawn mowing, bed maintenance, mulching, fertilizing and snow plowing, along with the designing and building of your outdoor living spaces.

One man, one mower, one yellow truck. That’s just the beginning of how Rocco Laurie, along with his entrepreneurial spirit, started mowing lawns in his neighborhood to earn college money. As more neighbors and friends saw his dedication to quality work and attention to detail, Rocco’s business grew. That was 2008, and today, Rocscape Landscaping has six crews and 14 of those yellow trucks serving Northeast Ohioans.

“I started working in Mayfield, where I grew up, and began building my client base once I got my first truck,” Rocco says. “I wanted a black one, but the yellow truck was available right away, so I took it. It turned out to be a great decision. People would say, ‘I want the guy with the yellow truck.’”

The bright yellow truck quickly became a familiar sight in local neighborhoods, making Rocscape Landscaping easy to recognize—and even easier to recommend.

Rocscape Landscaping offers residential and commercial landscaping services including lawn mowing, bed maintenance, mulching, fertilizing and snow plowing, along with the designing and building of your outdoor living spaces.

“We offer full outdoor living space installation including retaining walls, drainage, water features and lighting,” Rocco says. “We want to be your year-round home and business outdoor maintenance company.”

Rocco’s hardscape manager John Dostal has been with working with Rocco since 2015, and for the last several years, oversees the hardscape division of the business. From design and estimates to running the crews onsite, John discovered his passion for outdoor living design and execution after starting from scratch.

“I started as a weed whacker,” John says. “Rocco encourages his employees to find what they like to do, and he’ll try and accommodate you. I loved the planning and installation of hardscape projects and now we have 15 full-time employees.”

Spring is a great time to think about enjoying the outdoors right in your own back yard. At Rocscape, it all begins with a phone call.

“I’ll visit your home, we’ll go over your space and include details like a firepit, sitting areas, patio, deck, stone and brick work, and landscape ideas,” John says. “Our focus is always what you want, not what we want. Some companies oversell you and come up with an extravagant plan to increase the budget. Your comfort level is our goal. No project is too small.”

From a small walkway to full outdoor spaces with kitchens and all the extras, Rocscape will accommodate your needs.

“Many customers do things in stages,” John says. “Start with a small patio and when the time is right, add more. We don’t want one job to be the only job we do for you. Our goal is to form a relationship, earn your trust and hopefully you’ll have us back.”

Rocscape likes to keep all of its landscaping and hardscape work performed in-house by their trusted team. When it’s appropriate, the team also collaborates with specialized contractors that are involved in aspects of the outdoor living spaces, like composite/wood decking and gazebos.

John says, “We only work with the best and we work along with them, so you’ll always see familiar faces.”

Rocco has come a long way from riding his bike to clients’ houses and using their equipment before that first yellow truck.

“My goal has always been to never lose control of the quality of our work,” Rocco says. “We’ve now had clients for years who have become friends. It’s a great feeling.”

For all your outdoor living and maintenance needs, give Rocscape a call and get on the spring schedule. Just ask for the guys in the yellow truck.
