Building on tradition, Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools embraces innovation and unity through a district rebranding.

Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools’ rebranding unifies the schools in the district under the Rangers and Rebels banners.

When students, teachers and administrators at Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools returned to the classrooms last month, they were met with significant changes—a district-wide rebranding and newly launched website to keep families connected.

“Community pride runs deep here, and it shows,” says Director of Communications Gina Kevern. “Generations of families have attended our schools, with many alumni now raising their own children in the same close-knit neighborhoods. The energy and enthusiasm surrounding the Eastlake North Rangers and Willoughby South Rebels continues to grow, and now we’re excited to take that spirit to the next level.”

The district’s rebranding unifies the schools under the Rangers and Rebels banners. Moving forward, all elementary and middle schools that feed into Eastlake North High School will be known as Rangers, and those that feed into Willoughby South High School will be known as Rebels.

At Staff Convocation Day, when employees joined together at Willoughby South High School, many proudly wore their new colors and were treated to a pep rally featuring student-athletes, band and choir members leading the way. Everyone chanted, “We are Rangers, we are Rebels, we are Willoughby-Eastlake!”

“This exciting change not only honors the strong traditions of our two high schools, but also celebrates the journey of every student,” Gina adds. “From their very first day of school, our youngest learners will know they are already part of something bigger—being a proud Ranger or a spirited Rebel.”

Another new development last month was the launch of the district’s improved website, WESchools.org. Designed with families, staff and community in mind, the updated site is:

  • Easier to navigate with intuitive menus and streamlined content
  • More visually engaging, with a fresh, modern look
  • Mobile-friendly and fully responsive for seamless access on any device—desktop, tablet or phone.

“Whether you’re searching for upcoming events, the latest school news, or quick links to important resources, the website will be your one-stop destination for everything,” says Gina.

Look for these monthly stories to cover topics from grades K-12 in the Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools System. For details, visit WESchools.org.
