The power of assisted stretching at StretchLab Hudson keeps your body moving so you can stay in the game.

Are you struggling to get into the swing of spring because of the cold, snowy, sedentary winter we had? We’ve all been itching to get back to the golf course, the pickleball court and the activities we enjoy when the weather warms. Is your body ready after so much time indoors? Now’s the time for a stretching routine to loosen those muscles and joints and prepare the body for increased performance.

StretchLab Hudson offers one-on-one assisted stretching by a trained expert, a Flexologist, who will guide you through a series of stretches unique to your specific needs and goals.

“Our clients range from student-athletes gaining strength and flexibility for their sport to seniors who want to stay active with grandchildren and remain independent as they age,” says StretchLab Hudson manager Kim Newhouse. “Whatever your goals are, we are here to help you reach them. Everything is easier when stretching becomes a part of your life.”

StretchLab clients report results like less joint and back pain, increased flexibility, improved recovery and better overall performance.

“We have many clients who are thrilled with their improved golf swings due to increased lower back and hip flexibility, along with more power and stamina,” says Kim. “There’s also a mental health aspect to stretching. When you stretch, you just feel better. When you feel better, you do better, whatever that means to you.”

Kim notes that not all stretching is the same and can sometimes do more harm than good. At StretchLab, your Flexologist has a background in a health or fitness field along with completing StretchLab’s extensive, three-tiered certification process. This process includes more than 60 hours of in-person workshops and online training, as well as many hands-on practice hours administering StretchLab’s signature 26 stretches to hone their skills.

Your initial stretch begins with a simple MAPS assessment to determine mobility, activation, posture and symmetry to provide your Flexologist with information they need to ensure you get the most out of your session.

StretchLab recommends a 50-minute, 26-stretch initial session that targets every muscle group. This allows your Flexologist to assess your limitations and capabilities and structure a plan to address your specific needs.

“We use a stretching technique called proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation that uses resistance to target the body’s tissues and ligaments and improve muscle elasticity,” says Kim “With every stretch, we are always communicating and work off a tension scale of one to 10. Each stretch is pain-free, but we’ll push you beyond the typical range of motion you could reach on your own. You are always progressing.”

StretchLab is a highly personalized experience, and no two stretches are the same. Your Flexologist is your partner in wellness and is always assessing your needs as you improve with every stretch.

Kim has had clients reach a range of goals from getting rid of a walker and increasing independence and confidence, to improving at sports and activities or recovering from surgeries.

“Everyone has unique needs,” says Kim. “Maybe it’s back, shoulder and neck pain from sitting at a desk all day or driving the kids around. People of all ages can struggle to do simple tasks that require stretching, bending and reaching. A routine stretching program builds muscle and improves flexibility and joint function. It’s an important part of overall health and wellness.”

StretchLab will get you back in the game, one stretch at a time.
