Going underground with the waterproofing experts

Laura Briedis • April 6, 2026

Olivieri & Son has long since become an area expert when it comes to all things basements. Here’s how they can stop the water from getting into yours.

A stack of books sits on a wooden table, next to a lit candle and a warm cup of coffee or tea.

A family-owned business founded 45 years ago, Olivieri & Son has solved and repaired thousands of problems in homes across Northeast Ohio—earning the company the reputation of being the waterproofing experts in town.

Emblazoned on all its work trucks driving around town is this simple mission statement: Stop the Leak.

Headed by the father-and-son team of Rocco and Mark Olivieri, the company goes to great depths to fix leaky basements the right way.

Most companies try to repair foundation leaks from the inside of the basement by re-channeling the invading water back outside. That, insists Rocco, isn’t the ideal way to do it.

“The best way is to prevent the water from penetrating your walls to begin with,” Rocco says. “That’s why we fix the problem from the outside.”

Olivieri & Son begins the repair process by excavating your leaky wall all the way to the footer. They then wash your foundation to clean the debris and highlight any cracks where moisture may be entering. Those cracks are patched and sealed with sealants, and then tar rubber emulsion is rolled on from footer to grade to prevent moisture from entering your wall. The excavation is backfilled with premium washed gravel to direct water to the drain tile.

All Things Underground

In addition to basement waterproofing, the company can handle all things underground. Olivieri & Son services these specialties:

  • Foundation straightening
  • Foundation rebuilding
  • Sewer inspection and repair
  • Concrete solutions
  • Excavating

“Whether your basement is damp, your foundation is crumbling, or your sewer lines are backed up, we can fix the problem,” says Mark, the son in Olivieri & Son. “We have decades of experience and a fleet of trucks and equipment to manage all the repairs or build process.”

“We guarantee all of our work, and we are licensed, bonded and insured,” he adds.

If you think you may be having problems with water in the basement, or a shifting foundation, Olivieri & Son will do a no-cost, no-obligation inspection, including a moisture detection test to reveal basement problems that may be hidden behind drywall.
