Attorney Margaret T. Karl was named to the Go Red for Women’s Woman of Impact campaign supporting the American Heart Association within greater Cleveland. As part of this year’s nationwide class of change-makers, she is helping raise funds for women-centric research related to cardiovascular disease.

“I was honored and thrilled to be nominated to a position where I can make a real difference in empowering women to live longer and healthier lives,” says Margie, an attorney for more than 20 years. Since she’s succeeded in a field of law that takes a lot of heart—advocating for families and seniors through estate planning and elder law—it’s a natural for her to earn this nomination.

For Margie, the connection she feels to the AHA is personal. While she was in labor with her son Alex, who is now 17, it was discovered she had rheumatic valve disorder that required open-heart surgery to replace two valves.

She believes that awareness is elemental to the campaign’s cause.

“I feel as if women are more likely to ignore symptoms that might be warning signs of a heart attack, stroke or cardiac arrest; we tend to keep going instead of listening to something that may be wrong in our bodies,” says Margie, who has spoken to local groups about her experience.

Margie’s fundraising platform is open through Thursday, April 9, at 9 p.m. Find the link on her social media pages and help this worthy cause through your tax-deductible support or by joining community events she has planned. She’s competing against seven other nominees to see who will raise the most charitable dollars.

Margaret T. Karl, Attorney at Law is located at 25800 North Depot Street, Suite 102, in Olmsted Falls. For more information, call 440-782-5051 or visit BereaOhioLaw.com.
