Since 1980, Savelli Dance & Martial Arts has been teaching and training both children and adults of all ages in multiple disciplines of dance, along with the martial arts. Ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, tumbling, Zumba and more are all offered at its new studio in Willoughby.

“We have always been in Lake County, and recently moved from our Mentor studio to a fully renovated, beautiful location in the heart of Willoughby,” owner Dianne Savelli says. “It’s been a privilege for my five children to have not only grown up here taking part in all the studio has to offer, but also to now teach at and run the daily operations of Savelli’s.”

Founder Guy Savelli, who passed away in 2020, was a renowned martial artist and teacher who taught the spiritual and mental aspects of martial arts.

“My husband’s method was to educate his students in a non-competitive way in order to make them better at whatever sport or activity they choose,” Dianne says. “Our classes begin at age 3, offering total body education and teaching children things like self-control, timing and balance, along with respect and good values. This is not about learning how to fight. It’s offering the confidence needed to avoid dangerous situations and do no harm.”

Dance classes offered at Savelli’s range from general, fitness-focused classes to competitive performance groups.

“Classes are designed to build confidence as children transition from childhood through adolescence,” Dianne says. “No professional dance aspirations are needed. Teachers promote physical fitness, flexibility, strength and fun through dance.”

New students who mention Mimi will receive 20 percent off tuition for the 2023-2024 season.
