Kevin Is Always Mixing serves up perfectly prepared sweets in a grab-and-go jar

Kevin Keough, owner of Kevin is Always Mixing in Chardon, loves sweets but was having trouble finding things worth the calories.
“I could never find the right thing in a bakery or on a menu that did the trick,” says Kevin. “I started baking for myself, tweaking recipes and sharing with friends and family. I started layering my cheesecakes in mason jars, posted some photos on Facebook and it took off.”
People were intrigued by Kevin’s desserts in a jar and ordered them for graduations, showers and other celebrations.
“People loved the novelty and convenience of the jars first of all—then they tasted the product and spread the word about these all-fresh ingredients, homemade and unique desserts,” says Kevin.
Kevin found a commercial kitchen space to fit his needs, then opened the retail space in November 2022. Kevin Is Always Mixing offers over 50 varieties of mousses, cakes, pies and other treats layered and hand-piped into wide mouth mason jars and topped with fresh whipped cream. Flavors rotate weekly and are never the same.
If you can’t decide on just one flavor, don’t worry. “The jars keep our desserts fresh longer,” Kevin says. “If you don’t finish it, you can put it in the refrigerator and eat it over several days. We offer 8-ounce and 12-ounce sizes in every flavor and 4-ounce jars for catering. We can even personalize the labels for your special event.”
As the only bakery in town to offer macarons along with muffins, kolache, bread and a wide selection of pastries, Kevin Is Always Mixing has quickly become a local favorite. Loyal, repeat customers inspired Kevin to start a rewards program. “When your jars pile up, bring back 10 and get a free dessert,” he explains.
“We’re always trying different things,” says Kevin. “Stop in and let us know what you’re looking for.” You never know what you’ll find because…Kevin is always mixing.
