20 years of improving lives

Living your best life sometimes requires help from leading-edge science. Here’s how AcuLaser Treatment Centre has been improving lives for more than two decades—naturally and holistically.

Celebrating 20 years, Brecksville’s AcuLaser Treatment Centre has successfully treated more than 10,500 clients. Today, laser treatments are just one tool in AcuLaser’s expansive, holistic toolbox to treat many conditions—from resetting your metabolism to reducing stress and anxiety to quitting smoking. It makes sense that holistic health care is having a moment. People are over and done with symptom-centric approaches and are searching for more meaningful ways to work with their bodies’ natural healing mechanisms.

Celebrating its 20th year, AcuLaser Treatment Centre has become the respected authority on holistic care in Northeast Ohio. To keep up with its growing clientele, it recently expanded—in square footage and by welcoming a naturopathic doctor to the integrative wellness team.

Founder and Clinical Director Luciana McCartney looks back on the past decades with fondness.

“People have come to us looking for a more natural way to treat their body, mind and spirit,” she says. “With self-care at the forefront, our clients are more cognizant of how their bodies respond to holistic care. We’ve successfully treated more than 10,500 clients and are pleased to have become a household name amongst referring local physicians. It speaks volumes.”

Can You Reset Your Metabolism?
Luciana recently welcomed functional health specialist Dr. Brandon Drabek, ND, to the practice.

He offers Allergy Reset and Metabolic Reset programs. The bulk of Dr. Drabek’s clients are women ages 30-60 who are experiencing metabolic and hormonal imbalance.

“With the Metabolic Reset program, we do bloodwork to pinpoint imbalances that lead to metabolic dysfunction, fatigue, inflammation and weight gain,” Dr. Drabek says, noting a 30- to 50-page report is generated from the draw. “I treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. Based on the report, I create a comprehensive health plan that includes nutrition, movement and stress management, as well as laser treatment. The goal is to improve a client’s physiology and to get their systems functioning in harmony again.”

After the plan is implemented, Dr. Drabek sees clients every six to eight weeks for re-evaluation then spaces visits out every few months to ensure they are on the right track.

Easing Anxiety in the New Year
For anyone suffering from anxiety, Luciana and her staff offer laser acupuncture, a natural way to help lower cortisol, which in a prolonged setting can cause heart disease by raising blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides.

By stimulating targeted pressure points, the therapy encourages the body to release endorphins, which increases its resilience to future stressors.

“We find it’s not the amount of stress in a person’s life, but how they react to it that makes the difference,” she says. “Laser acupuncture relaxes the body’s natural response to anxiety.”

Improve Mood, Sleep, Stress
Luciana says the expanded Centre has more space to offer wellness services such as Reiki, Lymphatic Drainage Massage, and a new treatment called Ground Therapy.

“This treatment is based on the premise that the earth is a natural source of electrons and subtle electrical fields essential for our well-being,” she says. “The therapy stimulates the effect of connecting to the earth to neutralize the electric charge that runs through our bodies. This has a profound impact on mood, sleep, stress and inflammation.”

Put Vaping and Smoking Behind You
According to Johns Hopkins University, 7 out of 10 people who smoke or vape say they want to quit. What’s stopping them?

This nasty habit assaults every organ in your body, shortens your lifespan and negatively impacts your quality of life.

“Vaping is more dangerous and addictive than smoking,” says Luciana, who overcame her own lifelong struggle with smoking through laser acupuncture. “We’ve seen an uptick in clients who are addicted to vaping, which introduces thousands of toxic chemicals to the body. It has been linked to lung disease, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. Both e-cigarettes and regular cigarettes contain highly addictive concentrations of nicotine. When the vaping trend began, it was touted as an alternative way to quit smoking, but it hasn’t turned out that way.”

Luciana reports her cold, low-level, FDA-approved laser has had a 90% success rate in helping people quit smoking and vaping by stimulating the pressure points related to cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

She has earned a reputation for spearheading the treatment. Last year she was asked to represent the United States in a European symposium on vaping.

“This has become a dangerous global addiction,” she explains. “It’s like inhaling bleach, the chemicals go right to your brain. Using a laser, we can curb that urge to vape or smoke so people can finally be free of it.”

Luciana believes in her services so much that she offers a lifetime of free after-care treatments and support to people who go through the program.
