With 17 holes under your belt and eagerly awaiting a refreshing cold one in the clubhouse, you’d probably like to finish your game on a high note. That wasn’t always easy on the final hole at Bunker Hill Golf Course, admits General Manager Chad Gibson.

“Until this summer, the 18th hole was one of the least favorite on the course, with a split creek and green that was unfair to putt on,” Chad says. “That has all changed. Our 18th hole is one of the most talked about holes in Northeastern Ohio—but now it’s all in a good way. If you haven’t played it this summer, it’s a must.”

The first creek was filled in several years ago, allowing golfers to swing away with a driver on the long par 5, Chad explains. This year Bunker Hill opened with a newly renovated 18th green and surrounding areas, adding fairway all the way up to the green and lowering the green several feet, creating a two-tiered approach that allows multiple pin locations.

Bunker Hill has a variety of venues for its clambakes, including a deck overlooking the course, the event center, the high-tech golf simulator room and a pavilion with cornhole and fire pits.

“It’s now fun for golfers to putt on,” Chad insists. “Three bunkers on the left and one on the right add beauty and precision to your approach. Our 18th hole has become one of the area’s finest.”

Starting next summer, you can ride to it in style. That’s because a new fleet of carts is on order for 2023 delivery—and they’ll glide from tee to green along brand-new concrete cart paths.

Chad has overseen numerous renovations—on the course as well as the Bunker Hill event center—since he joined Bunker Hill five years ago.

“These improvements have taken Bunker Hill not just to the next level, but to the top level of golf courses in the area,” Chad insists. “We've also invested in new leading-edge landscaping equipment to give us a better cut on the turf—which improves our golfers’ experience—as well as drainage improvements and tee and green construction. Scott Brickley, our superintendent for nearly three decades, has made Bunker Hill one of the top-rated golf courses in Medina County and is known to have some of the best greens in Ohio.”

Bunker Hill also has become popular for its special events and fundraisers—like its clambake parties.

“Our clambakes are available seven days a week in September and October for family gatherings, neighborhood socials, church fellowship, fraternity events or, of course, fundraisers,” Chad emphasizes.

During 30 years in the golf course business, Chad has made his mark by helping to raise money for schools, churches, military, non-profit organizations, police, and families with medical needs.

“I couldn’t be any happier with my A+ team to help me with all the fundraisers and events we host,” he says. “It’s not uncommon for Bunker Hill to host three or four events in a single day and we get nothing but compliments from our customers about the great experience they had, from setting up the event and behind-the-scenes work to the logistics cooking, serving and cleaning up.”

Bunker Hill has a variety of venues for its clambakes, including a deck overlooking the course, the event center, the high-tech golf simulator room and a pavilion with cornhole and fire pits. All bakes come with a half chicken, potatoes, corn and chowder, plus the option of substituting steak or shrimp for clams.
