It’s refreshing and unusual to shop for a home renovation project and know that you’re buying from a local, family-owned manufacturer.

Choice Cabinet’s newly opened showroom on the west side, within Ridge Park Square in Brooklyn, is right in the back yard of neighborhoods of folks who have already worked with them via their east location. What you’ll find here is an amazing shopping experience, with vignettes of gorgeous kitchens, bathrooms, bars, home offices, laundry rooms, wall units and locker room systems amidst the cabinet displays.

What’s Your Design Style?
“We appeal to every taste, from classic to transitional and modern,” says Jessica Ricard, who is the showroom supervisor and daughter of founder Tony Laurinaitis. “The options of customizing your cabinetry are nearly endless (around 36,000) from within our two lines—the Select, which is higher end and comes with a lifetime warranty, and the Essentials line, which comes with a one-year warranty.”

Jessica notes the family takes pride in their family-owned eastside assembly and distribution plant that provides cabinets that are as sturdy and long-lasting as they are beautiful. Crafted from solid wood, you will not find any particle board or pressed wood with these thoughtfully designed cabinets. People have the option of high-end soft-close drawers and doors, as well as different styles of hardware.

“Since they are put together at our warehouse in Bedford Heights, we have control over the distribution process, and we cut out the middleman for greater savings we pass along to the customer,” she adds. “Everything is in stock, so lead times are only two to three weeks from when you place your order, which is a fraction of the time you’d wait with most cabinet companies.”

Countertops, Too
To be a true “one-stop shop,” the showrooms professional kitchen designers, Tina Figueroa and Jaclyn Seitz, said they started offering countertops to complement their cabinetry. “Our top sellers of natural stone are quartz,” they added.“People are looking for lighter shades of white, cream and pale grays with slight veining. Not as much movement as we used to see with granite.”

The Complimentary Design Process
All the looks you’d discover by flipping through HGTV shows, you’ll also find in the newly opened Choice Cabinet showroom.

Complimentary design service offered from the company’s on-staff designers helps people envision their dream space. It also helps when you bring photos or mood boards that communicate your style, and measurements of your room before they create a computerized rendering to illustrate how the new space will look.

Showroom Supervisor Jessica Ricard reports these are the kitchen and bath design trends they are seeing:

• “The kitchen shown on the cover features the most popular tones right now which are whites, light grays or earthy tones.”
• “Homeowners are also asking for glass front cabinets and open shelving for visual interest. And no matter what your style is, flat, Shaker-style profile doors are big right now.”
• “It seems like at the beginning of the year, people are interested in decluttering. We can fix their reorganizational pain points like messy entranceways or mudrooms with great-looking locker systems that keep the family’s shoes, backpacks, etc., out of sight.”
• “With bathroom vanities, we are building a lot of counter-to-ceiling storage cabinetry in the center, between the sinks. It can visually expand a smaller space while adding convenience.”

Tax Refund Season
Tina and Jaclyn note that March and April are two of the busiest months of the year for them.

“When people receive their refunds, they often like to put them toward a home improvement project such as a kitchen renovation,” they agreed.

Although Choice Cabinet has an amazing Inspiration Gallery on its website that showcases trends and their work, Jessica and her team hope you’ll visit the showroom to experience it all in person.

Crafted from solid wood, you will not find any particle board or pressed wood with Choice Cabinet’s thoughtfully designed cabinets.

“We enjoy taking time to get to know the customer to create a design that’s reflective of their unique taste,” she says. “Repeat business is what has fueled our growth from the beginning in 2006.”
