Stretch your potential

Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply want to move through your day with greater ease, The Vital Stretch takes flexibility to another level.

From weekend warriors and sedentary office workers, to high-performance athletes and active graceful agers, the personalized, assisted stretching at The Vital Stretch has been transformative.

Since opening in the spring, the boutique studio, which is the first to open in Ohio, has empowered people to take charge of their movement, move freely with greater mobility and less soreness, and to lead more active, vibrant lives.

Vital Stretch Practitioners, or VSPs, are trained in The Vital Stretch Method in Connecticut and accredited by the National Academy of Sports Medicine to work with Vital Signs 3D Mobility Assessment. It evaluates movement, identifies mobility limitations and creates targeted improvement plans, while allowing each person’s progress to be tracked over time.

“The Mobility Assessment is eye-opening for many people,” says Steven Brown, who owns the studio with his wife, JoJo, and sister, Elaine Brown. Though Elaine lives in Florida, her extensive background in retail sales and management has made her a valuable partner in the venture.

“Doctors fixate on ‘life span’. The biomarker we focus on is your ‘Health Span’, in other words, the quality of your life,” says Steven.

Boutique Setting

The practitioners provide 30-, 60- and 90-minute sessions within semi-private stretch stations designed to provide a calm, comfortable experience in a spa-like, Zen-forward setting. Earthy aromatherapy scents and soothing music waft through the studio.

During a stretch session, guests are fully clothed in loose, comfortable clothing. The VSP will gently guide your body into deeper, more restorative positions than you could reach on your own. He or she reads your body’s signals, makes real-time adjustments and takes each stretch as far as your body is ready to go, safely opening up restricted hips, shoulders, hamstrings and spines. A Theragun percussion massager is also used to reach deeper into muscle and joint tissues. No two sessions are alike.

Balance, Flexibility, Injury Prevention

Another benefit to assisted stretching is injury prevention. Having balanced muscle length reduces joint stress and better prepares the body to absorb impact during physical activity.

And in a gift-that-keeps-on-giving way, the benefits produce a ripple effect. According to a health newsletter published by the Cleveland Clinic, improving how far you can stretch with each assisted stretching session allows you over time to become more limber. Also, “if you’re recovering from an injury, this can help not only return to your original flexibility but also help improve it.”

A Science-Based Backstory

The locally owned franchise was founded by a husband-and-wife team of a chiropractor and a physical therapist who had spent decades treating patients suffering from ailments caused by the underlying problem of tightness in one part of the body affecting how the entire body moved and felt. They saw a need for a more holistic approach to movement, one that treated the body as an interconnected system.

A Five-Star Reception

People who have raved about their results at The Vital Stretch also mention that the sessions helped them mentally relax, saw a reduction in stress and improved overall well-being.

Take it from Jessica M., who works in an office: “I sit at a desk most of the day and my hips and back were always tight. After my first session, I felt lighter, more upright and way less stiff.”

And golfer Robert P. says, “I came in for tight shoulders and limited range of motion. The practitioner explained everything clearly, and I noticed a difference right away.”

Flexible memberships allow you to choose your number of sessions and share them within a family. There are no long-term contracts. The studio is HSA- and FSA-approved. Positions are open for Vital Stretch Practitioners looking for full- or part-time hours.

How's Your Pickleball Game?

With more than 20 million Americans picking up their racquets, pickleball is the fastest- growing sport in America. But what’s also growing? The number of injuries and ER visits it causes.

In fact, the National Institutes of Health reports that roughly 69% of regular players experience an injury requiring time off or causing persistent pain each year.

That’s why The Vital Stretch created its Paddle Sports Mobility Program. The practitioners take a proactive approach. Using Vital Stretch 3D body mapping, they can measure your mobility, then create a plan to train it, to improve your overall game. After evaluating your hip rotation, ankle range, thoracic rotation and shoulder mobility, they provide you with a Mobility Score.

Hands-on sessions progressively restore your mobility, reduce soreness and increase range and movement.

“When your body has the mobility and strength it needs, soreness fades and your game gets better,” says Owner Steven Brown.

Stronger serves, better dink and drop shots, walking off the court and waking up the next day pain free can be game changing.

In addition to pickleball, other customized programs are geared toward specific sports like golf, soccer, football, baseball, tennis and more.
