Stretch to keep muscles healthy

Jeanne Fuelling, StretchLab • September 17, 2025

The goal of each stretch is to move beyond typical range of motion, so you are always progressing, regardless of age, fitness level or physical limitations.

Flexologists use a stretching technique called proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) that uses resistance to target the body’s tissues and ligaments and improve muscle elasticity.

The two biggest fears that seniors report are keeping them from being active are injury and physical limitations. At StretchLab, we work every day with seniors who are discovering the benefits of assisted stretching, enjoying activities they thought were behind them and feeling stronger than they have in years.

Our Flexologists are trained experts, each with backgrounds in a related field like exercise science, kinesiology, yoga or personal training, who complete a three-tiered certification process including extensive online coursework, in-person workshops and 20-plus practice hours administering StretchLab’s 26 signature stretches.

Your initial stretch begins with a simple MAPS assessment that determines Mobility, Activation, Posture and Symmetry to ensure the Flexologist focuses on the right muscle groups. Each stretch is designed around your specific needs and concerns. You will never be in pain, and you’ll have complete control throughout every 50-minute stretch.

Flexibility is a longevity game. If you don’t continuously stretch muscles, tendons and ligaments, you’ll lose them. StretchLab helps you get flexibility back and empowers you with the knowledge and confidence to stretch on your own to keep improving and performing better in life.

StretchLab is located at 35972 Detroit Road, Unit Z-1 in Avon (440-536-8470), 19306 Detroit Road in Rocky River (216-353-2805) and 17100 Royalton Road, Suite 8, in Strongsville (440-709-1534). For more information and to schedule your first stretch, visit StretchLab.com.
