Smoke-free in just one day

In a ruling last month, the Supreme Court sided with the vaping industry by rejecting the Food and Drug Administration’s bid to limit where companies can challenge product marketing denials. The action makes it easier for companies to sue the FDA, potentially impacting future regulatory outcomes.

The bottom line: This already fast-growing industry isn’t seeing any obstacles in its way. In fact, the global e-cigarette and vape market is expected to grow at the rate of 30% between now and 2030.

A local expert who has studied vaping and smoking cessation, AcuLaser Treatment Centre Founder and Clinical Director Luciana McCartney reports vaping is actually more dangerous and more addictive than smoking. She represented the United States last year at a symposium on vaping.

Origin of Vaping

E-cigarettes were invented in China in 2003 by Hon Lik, who was inspired by his father’s death from lung cancer. He thought his device, which vaporized nicotine, would help people quit smoking regular cigarettes. E-cigs spread to Europe and the U.S. around 2007.

“When the vaping trend began, it was touted as an alternative way to quit smoking, but it certainly hasn’t turned out that way,” says Luciana. “People are more addicted than ever.” 

She explains vaping is like inhaling Clorox, the chemicals go right to your brain. “We’ve seen an uptick in clients who are addicted to vaping, which introduces thousands of toxic chemicals to the body,” she adds. “It has been linked to lung disease, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. This nasty habit assaults every organ in your body, shortens your lifespan and negatively impacts your quality of life.”

For the past 20 years, she’s successfully treated nicotine addiction—with more than 10,500 people enjoying a 90% success rate—using a low-level laser that curbs the urge to vape or smoke.

“For me, the success rate is personal,” she says. “I cured my own decades-long struggle with smoking through laser acupuncture. I had done everything to try to quit—the gum, the patches, hypnosis—but I always went back to it. Now it’s rewarding to pay the healing forward.”

Cold Turkey in One Day

She reports her cold, FDA-approved laser effectively and painlessly stimulates the pressure points related to cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

“Smokers come in skeptical of the hour-long treatment and walk out nonsmokers,” she says, noting that she believes in the program so much, she offers free after-care treatments and support if necessary—for life.

The positive reviews touch on the benefits of suddenly becoming a nonsmoker after years of dealing with the addiction. “I didn’t think I’d never touch a cigarette again,” says Shaun B. “One day I smoked and the next day I didn’t.
