Roof warriors

A true account of one local woman’s extraordinary experience working with Spartan StormShield. Faith in humanity restored.

Word of mouth is one of Spartan StormShield’s most powerful advertising weapons. People—like Missy Smith—regularly recommend this company to their friends and family members.  (Photography: Felicia Vargo)

The tenacious team at Spartan StormShield lives up to its tagline of installing “the roof system to last your lifetime.”

Armed with product innovation and trusted craftsmanship from highly trained crews, the company has earned a reputation for going well beyond industry standards.

I sat down with Missy Smith of Twinsburg, who recently found herself in need of not one, but two roof replacements. Consider this a case study on how and why one local roofing company is taking Northeast Ohio by storm.

Q: How did you find out about Spartan StormShield?

A: After we noticed shingles had flown off our roof following a windstorm, I reached out to a neighbor who is always good about doing her homework, as well as a few other gals, to find the roofer with the best reputation. They said Spartan StormShield. After we interviewed several companies, my husband Matt, who’s extraordinarily picky (he’s an engineer) and I chose Jeramie Lopez, who is both a roofing specialist and one of the company’s owners.

Q: What made Spartan StormShield stand out from other companies?

A: Jeramie was really genuine, going over all the numbers and pricing matters. He reassured us about the team and gave us the lowdown on everything that would happen.

Q: What was the scope of your job?

A: We needed a roof replacement. Right after we had the roof replaced on this home, a tree fell on our vacation home at Lake Milton. Jeramie helped us with estimates for the new roof on that home, too. There was significant damage to the awnings and siding.

Q: Can you tell me about the consultation?

A: We walked around the house, talking about insurance—whether that’s the route we wanted to go. We also looked at colors and samples. Jeramie provided more helpful information than any of the other companies’ representatives.

Q: What were the installers like?

A: They were very nice, knowledgeable, and respectful. We have a husky named Chance, and whenever I let him out, they would make sure everything was safe. They did an excellent job cleaning up as well.

Q: What made you the happiest about working with Spartan StormShield?

A: Without a doubt, Jeramie’s response time. And since he has so many connections within the industry, he was able to help us get other contractors to help with our lake house. I called him overwhelmed when the tree hit our vacation home. Within a few hours he had a dumpster there and was already laying a tarp down. We put our complete trust in him. Also, working through the insurance process could have been complicated, but thanks to Spartan, I felt like I didn’t have to bother with it.

Q: Why would you recommend Spartan to other homeowners?

A: As a residential real estate agent with eXp Realty, who sells homes all over Northeast Ohio, I consider a roof to be one of the more important considerations to anyone selling a house, along with HVAC and windows. I’m in a position to recommend a great roofing company to lots of people. And I do. Several of my clients and friends have already used Spartan StormShield and have been super satisfied with the experience.
