Re-feathering the nest

Gone are the days of worrying about yard work and maintenance. The Villas at Canterwood Farms offer a lock-and-leave lifestyle mature adults are loving.

A stack of books sits on a wooden table, next to a lit candle and a warm cup of coffee or tea.

The Villas at Canterwood Farms by 20th Century Construction offer low-maintenance, high quality, turnkey homes in a vibrant community where residents continue their full, active lives without the stress of home maintenance.

It’s the time of year when we want to throw open the windows and throw out the stuff. For empty nesters, cleaning out those unused spaces can spark desires of relocating to a more manageable, low-maintenance home.

The Villas at Canterwood Farms by 20th Century Construction offer low-maintenance, high-quality, turnkey homes in a vibrant community where residents continue their full, active lives without the stress of home maintenance—or spring cleanup.

“My family’s business, 20th Century Construction, has a long history of answering its clients’ needs,” says vice president of sales and marketing Allison Riebe Moore. “Starting their business in 1981, my parents were like many of their clients—a young couple working and raising their children. They catered to other young families looking for well-built, long-term family homes where they could remain for years to come.”

Fast-forward many years and those same clients were coming back to 20th Century Construction, their children grown and out of the family house, looking for a more manageable option to fit their new lifestyle. Once again, 20th Century Construction answered their needs with The Villas at Canterwood Farms.

Instead of starting from scratch developing floor plans for Canterwood Farms, 20th Century Construction partnered with Epcon Communities, which has been building homes with empty nesters in mind since 1986.

“This partnership gives us access to the Epcon floor plans that include six different layouts from 1,400- to 3,000-plus square feet,” Allison says. “These are turnkey homes with high-end appliances, fixtures and finishes, lush landscaping and more. This is convenient, functional, stylish living for your new ‘lock and leave’ lifestyle.”

Floor plans include the option of a bonus suite that adds a bedroom, bath and additional living space along with a basement option. Homeowners work with a designated designer to help with decisions on paint colors, finishes and exterior styling.

“The building process takes about eight months, which is plenty of time to prepare for a simpler life,” Allison says. “But if you’re ready to move sooner, an inventory home is currently under construction, scheduled for summer occupancy.”

The popular Promenade model home features two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a den that can be used for extra guests, an office space, or whatever your needs might be. You could be settled in your new home before the holidays.

“Canterwood Farms homes cater to the needs of empty nesters with every floor plan,” Allison says. “If you need extra space for kids and grandkids, we have the answer. If you’re looking for something cozier, a smaller floor plan offers all the same amenities.”

Those amenities include the surrounding natural beauty of Canterwood Farms that provides a serene, rural feel yet you’re less than a mile from restaurants, shopping and highways. And the nearly completed clubhouse will boast an outdoor pool, fitness center and a common courtyard for activities like bocce or shuffleboard. Inside is a kitchen and an additional flexible room for community clubs and activities. Residents are already planning wine nights, book clubs, Mahjong and more.

“Simply clearing the clutter of the family home and making the decision to move into a home that is more conducive to a new lifestyle are two very different things,” Allison says. “We are prepared to guide you every step of the way and address any concerns or needs you may have.”

Spring is a great time to think about real change. If that means low-maintenance living in a safe, easily accessible, turnkey home surrounded by like-minded neighbors who become friends, Canterwood Farms can be the change you’re looking for.
