Lucky 13

With a 13-year streak as Medina’s “Best of the Best” and the buying power of a nationwide co-op, MDG Flooring America has become unbeatable in every category.

Luxury vinyl is virtually indistinguishable from wood, durable, water-resistant, and perfect for handling the elements.

Thirteen. While some think of it as an unlucky number, it’s proven anything but for MDG Flooring America. Their 13-year winning streak as the “Best of the Best” in the Medina Gazette’s Flooring & Carpet category is no fluke. Few local businesses have won over the hearts—and homes—of so many, earning consistent community recognition year after year like MDG.

So, what makes the family-operated showroom stand out in a crowded market?

“We’re not just another flooring store. We’re a part of this community,” says Steve Walbolt, president of MDG. “We’re committed to building enduring r

elationships and safeguarding our customers’ investments in their homes.”

The showroom, spanning 5,000 square feet, has an impressive range of products for kitchen and bath renovations along with an extensive selection of flooring options—from carpeting and hardwood to laminate, tile and luxury vinyl tile.

MDG’s affiliation with Flooring America, a more than 500-store nationwide cooperative, allows the store to offer an all-encompassing selection of products and materials at competitive prices.

“We can not only match the prices of big-box stores—we often beat them—but, thanks to our co-op, we’re the world’s top buyer of flooring, so our customers have access to a remarkable selection they’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere else,” Steve says. “What really sets us apart, though, is how we treat our customers. We get to know them from the moment they enter the showroom.”

What differentiates MDG from its competitors? Steve attributes it to the winning combination of quality, pricing, selection and customer relationships that extend beyond the showroom, from precise installations to thorough follow-ups in pursuit of the highest standards.

It’s safe to say that after 13 years of being named “Best of the Best,” MDG is engrained in the community, poised to continue its winning streak—knock on wood.

“We make our customers feel like part of the MDG family because they are,” Steve says. “They’re a part of this community, just like our designers and installers who they invite into their homes.”

With the holiday season approaching, many are eager to add a home refresh to their wish lists. Steve recommends booking remodeling jobs four to six weeks in advance.

“I chuckle when I hear about one-day installs,” he says. “Rushing our installers isn’t the goal. We take the time needed to ensure each installation meets the manufacturer’s specifications, so it’s done correctly and lasts as it should.”

To make renovations more accessible, MDG offers financing for up to 65 months at a discounted interest rate.

“Choose materials and designs that fit your space,” Steve says. “We help with everything from color coordination to finding the perfect products for your home’s needs.”

Steve notes a shift toward lighter wood finishes, such as white oaks and other pale hues, as darker tones and grays make way for brighter, more natural aesthetics. This trend reflects a broader movement toward warmth and openness in home design.

Ahead of the holiday season and winter’s ice and snow, waterproof flooring options remain popular.

“Luxury vinyl is still our top-selling category,” Steve reveals. “It’s virtually indistinguishable from wood, durable, water-resistant, and perfect for handling the elements.”

As the team celebrates their latest achievement, MDG Flooring America remains focused on what it believes matters most: winning over the hearts of homeowners by helping them create spaces they truly love.
