“Ten years ago, debilitating daily migraines were getting worse and ruining my life,” says Renee C. “The pain had begun shooting down my body and around my internal organs. I’d been on every class of medication and even taken a trip to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for testing. The neurologists didn’t find anything, saying since both my parents suffered from migraines, this is expected. Then I turned to chiropractic care and the headaches went away.”

Today, Renee sees Dr. Pooja Patel, founder of Core Life Chiropractic in Shaker Heights, for weekly treatments.

In her 40s, with a busy full-time job as a business consultant, Renee was diagnosed with subluxations of the neck and upper spine that Dr. Patel treats with spinal decompression therapy and spinal adjustments.

“Spinal decompression therapy gently stretches the spine with a controlled tension that relieves pressure on the disks and nerves,” says Dr. Patel. “It’s particularly effective at keeping the spine in alignment and functioning at its optimal level, acting as a network to carry signals to and from the brain to other parts of the body. Lowering pressure within the disks also causes an influx of healing nutrients and other beneficial substances.”

Last year when Renee twisted her knee running to first base in a softball game, Dr. Patel was able to diagnose the strain and treat it with chiropractic manipulation so she could avoid surgery and having to go to an orthopedic doctor.

Before coming to Core Life, 23-year-old Jolena M. suffered from chronic lower back pain. She couldn’t stand for more than a few minutes without pain and tossed and turned all night in turmoil.

“I woke up every morning exhausted and in pain,” she says. “After going through lumbar spinal decompression, I am pain-free and sleeping through the night for the first time in years. It’s amazing. I have more energy and am doing things like playing with my nieces and nephews again. I’m on my feet for eight hours at a time with no pain.”

She says after an X-ray and spinal scan, Dr. Patel was able to personalize the treatment to her unique condition.

“Everything was explained to me when she went over the scans,” says Jolena. “After the decompression therapy, I felt so much lighter and relieved. It was very relaxing.”

Tapping into Your Natural Healing Power

Renee and Jolena are two of a legion of patients who have found relief, healing and well-being at Core Life. Dr. Patel cares for patients from newborns to seniors, addressing everything from chronic back and neck pain, to inflammation, joint pain and stiffness, sports injuries, arthritis, headaches, lack of energy, digestive problems, fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety, sleep disorders and ADHD, to name a few.

“My patients often tell me they can go off their pain meds and no longer need surgery after care,” she adds. “That’s one of the main reasons I wanted to go into chiropractic in the first place: to tap into the power of the body’s natural healing mechanisms.”

Core Life Chiropractic is located at 20140 Van Aken Boulevard in Shaker Heights. For more information and to schedule a consultation, call 216-675-1710, or visit the website CoreLifeChiro.com.
