Lock-and-leave living at its best

Solon will soon boast a stunning new lock-and-leave community. Hawthorne Golf Estates offers completely customizable options.

A stack of books sits on a wooden table, next to a lit candle and a warm cup of coffee or tea.

While the outdoor setting is picturesque, the home interiors are just as stunning. Buyers can choose from eight models ranging from 1,600 to 6,000 square feet.

Once a rural farming community, Solon has transformed over the decades into a bustling suburban city consistently ranked among Northeast Ohio’s most desirable places to live. And though the city is mostly developed, it saved the best for last.

The new Hawthorne Golf Estates neighborhood, developed by Hawthorne Golf Estates, LLC, is being built on the former grounds of the Hawthorne Valley Country Club, adjacent to 150 acres of preserved natural space maintained by the Metroparks.

One of the development’s builders, Perrino Builders, is preparing to break ground later this spring in this thoughtfully designed community.

“Having a park in your backyard, in essence, extends your property with beautiful views,” says owner Pat Perrino. “The custom homes we will be building at Hawthorne will have direct access to South Chagrin Reservation, offering scenic hiking and biking trails, a stocked fishing lake and other outdoor adventures just steps from home. We are taking reservations for lots right now so buyers can choose a homesite that backs right onto parkland.”

Designed to blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings, Hawthorne encourages a lifestyle centered on nature, comfort and convenience. The neighborhood will consist of spacious, single-level homes—with options for one-and-a-half stories and walk-out basements—featuring open floor plans and inviting outdoor areas designed to encourage relaxation and neighborly interaction.

While the outdoor setting is picturesque, the home interiors are just as stunning. Buyers can choose from eight models ranging from 1,600 to 6,000 square feet.

“In addition to our models that homeowners can customize, we can design a completely custom home from the ground up for people who have their own vision,” Pat says. “From French Normandy to modern farmhouse to craftsman to New England style, we can build whatever someone wants.”

Perrino Builders offers a full-service design-build experience—from architectural planning to interior design. The company has its own in-house design center, where homeowners can select all their materials, including everything from flooring and cabinetry to fixtures and finishes. An adjacent furniture store makes it easy to complete the look, ensuring interiors feel cohesive, polished and move-in ready.

“Homeowners appreciate that everything is coordinated,” Pat says. “They don’t have to run all over town making design decisions. We handle the entire process from start to finish.”

Perrino Builders’ reputation has been shaped by a long-standing legacy of building in Solon communities, such as Signature of Solon, Chagrin Highlands, The Preserve and The Woodlands. But the company’s footprint extends well beyond the East Side.

In addition to the new Hawthorne Golf Estates—tailored for active-adult living (ages 50-plus)—Perrino Lifestyles is developing another adult lifestyle community, Magnolia Meadows in Sheffield. Both communities are designed with lock-and-leave convenience in mind, ideal for homeowners who travel frequently or split their time between Ohio and warmer destinations.

For those who want to live full time in a vacation-like setting, the builder also has three exclusive lakefront homesites available in Vermilion, offering over an acre each, expansive shoreline frontage and rare zero-entry beach access.

“We have the last three beachfront lots available in Vermilion to build on,” Pat says. “Located 2 miles west of the downtown Vermilion shops and restaurants, these homesites offer a rare opportunity to design and build a fully custom luxury residence directly on the shoreline.”

“For the past 40 years, we’ve been building homes across Northeast Ohio—both in thoughtfully planned neighborhood communities and on individual, customer-owned lots,” he says. “That experience allows us to meet homeowners wherever they are in life, whether they’re looking for a lock-and-leave lifestyle, a forever home surrounded by nature or a completely custom residence on their own piece of land.”

You can view models that will be built in Hawthorne Golf Estates currently at West Pines, at 34330 Giovanni Avenue, in Willoughby Hills.
