Enhancing summer fun

Instead of a vacation, have a renovation. TAB Property Enhancement shows us what’s possible.

Some of TAB Property Enhancement’s most popular projects include gazebos, decks, patios, fire pits and swimming pools.

With only 94 official days of summertime, people in Northeast Ohio long to get the most out of every glorious day. The joys of summer—kicking back with family and friends, playing with grandchildren or basking in some much-needed solitude—are simply better enjoyed in the great outdoors, where a backyard transformation can dramatically elevate your lifestyle.

Imagine a spacious deck or paver patio covered by an elegant louvered pergola to let the sunshine in when you want it. Or a swimming pool surrounded by picturesque landscaping, a bar or outdoor kitchen with twinkling lights at dusk. Maybe a fire pit, fireplace or water feature to add a gracious element that says, “Sit down and stay awhile.”

TAB Property Enhancement can do it all, from working with you to create a unique design to the final installation, regardless of the size of your project. These contractors are masters of large jobs, including a recent addition to Bunker Hill Golf Course, and smaller ones, like replacing an old concrete walkway with beautiful pavers.

Creativity, Dependability, All-Out Effort

After spending most of his career in landscaping, in 2008 owner Trace Baum decided to go it on his own. His company’s growth over the years has been impressive.

“It was just me in the beginning, and now we’re up to as many as 18 craftsmen on some jobs,” he says. “One of the things that separates us from others is that our seasoned staff has experience with every imaginable job, from paver patios to pergolas, pools, pool houses, decks, landscaping, fences, retaining walls, and lighting. We also do home remodeling.”

One hallmark of TAB is Trace’s belief in working with top suppliers, which means Unilock pavers that come with a lifetime warranty, as well as TimberTech Composite Decking.

“We only work with the most dependable products because we want our work to withstand our punishing weather,” he says. “Sure, we could install wood decks or stamped concrete, but both those options won’t make it through our winters and will end up costing more in the end when you have to repair or replace. Our clients depend on us to do the job right the first time.”

Every job is customized to the client. For consultations, Trace meets with homeowners to get an idea of what their dream space would look like. He takes photos of their home and provides a 3D rendering.

Not only do his clients appreciate the extra effort, the industry has also shown the love with numerous awards, from Unilock’s Best Outdoor Living Award the past three straight years, to many Best of Houzz Awards.

What’s Trending in the NEO?

Trace says this spring, there’s been an uptick in demand for artificial grass. “It’s a maintenance-free solution to add softness and color to a backyard that complements paver patios nicely,” he says.

“This is also a great idea for people with pets, so their fury family members can’t track dirt into the house. No more muddy paws. Since it has a permeable base, water flows through it. As soon as homeowners see our life-like samples, they want this in their back yards. The quality has never been better and people like knowing they’ll never have to mow or fertilize again.”

Louvered pergolas are also trending. “Made from heavy-duty aluminum, they are remote-controlled to let in the light when you want,” he says.

At the end of the day, Trace says his favorite part of the job is taking a step back and admiring a job well done—and seeing his clients’ joyful smiles.
