The Enlightened Lotus, where people are tapping into their inner peace and rediscovering what wellness feels like.

A smiling person wearing a light top and dark cardigan stands in the doorway of office 118, holding the door open.

Paula Stuebbe opened The Enlightened Lotus last June and is thrilled to offer the holistic healing of Reiki to clients seeking emotional and physical healing, stress reduction, improved sleep and other benefits.

Paula Stuebbe’s life changed significantly after an encounter with a Reiki master approximately 15 years ago.

“I was intrigued by this Japanese healing modality, which provides relief for people suffering from anxiety and physical and emotional pain,” Paula says. “This woman was also a Reiki teacher, so I signed up on the spot and went on to complete the three levels of training necessary to become a Reiki master myself.”

Never thinking of quitting her day job in commercial real estate, Paula began offering her Reiki skills locally at The Gathering Place and sharing them with friends.

“There’s a lot of people in pain in this world,” Paula says. “I wanted to help people experience a feeling of peace and wellness. I never thought about Reiki as a business.”

That was until Paula visited a friend at Salon Boutique in Mentor, saw they had a space available, and the wheels started turning.

Paula opened The Enlightened Lotus studio last June and is thrilled to offer the holistic healing of Reiki to clients seeking emotional and physical healing, stress reduction, improved sleep and other benefits.

Developed by Mikao Usui in early 20th century Japan, Reiki operates on the belief that the body has an innate ability to heal itself and that this process can be enhanced through the channeling of energy. Reiki helps balance the energy to support natural healing and overall well-being.

“Everything has a vibrational frequency and vibrates energetically,” Paula says. “I focus on the seven main energy centers in the body known as chakras. The goal is to open and clear the chakras to receive the energy, or life force, and allow it to move through the body in a healthy manner.”

Paula invites you to lie down, fully clothed, on the warmed treatment table equipped with a FAR infared mat embedded with crystals matching each chakra. She lightly places her hands on or hovers just above your body, acting as a conduit, allowing her hands to direct energy through you.

Your session may include meditation prompts, soft music, breathing exercises, aromatherapy and tuning forks.

“Everyone has unique needs and reactions,” Paula says. “Some experience a deep, peaceful, almost meditative state. Along with the warmth of the treatment table, Reiki encourages a light vibration that moves the energy within the body. Everyone experiences something. Just come with an open mind.”

Paula offers 40- to 75-minute sessions customized to each client, and many experience results that may last several weeks. The Enlightened Lotus also offers all-natural, organic essential oils and personal care products which Paula makes herself.

“I’m a certified aromatherapist and all of my products contain certified therapeutic grade essential oils,” Paula says.

Cleveland-area doctors and hospitals are discovering the benefits of Reiki and recognizing its potential in the healing process. Many find that combining Reiki with other therapeutic modalities such as physical therapy, psychotherapy, and relaxation enhances treatment outcomes.
