Decked out and ready for summer

To get the most out of your deck this season, call the pros at Chagrin Home Improvements. They’ll transform it. You’ll enjoy it.

For decks, Chagrin Home Improvements has a process in place that not only makes your deck look like new but also gives you many more years enjoying it without costly repairs or replacement.

April weather in Northeast Ohio wasn’t great, but April is over. May has arrived and it’s time to get outside. And if the deck isn’t quite ready for another round of family, friends, kids, pets and unpredictable weather, it’s time to get on the list for a professional cleaning and staining with our local area experts, Chagrin Home Improvements

“If anyone knows how to squeeze every outdoor moment they can out of our precious summer and fall months, it’s Northeast Ohioans,” owner Joe Jacobs says. “And our decks play a big role in that. So, when the weather’s ready, you’ll be ready with our professional deck revitalization process.”

The unpredictability of our weather here is one of the reasons Joe decided to return to this community where he was raised, and work with his family and friends after college to help homeowners get the most out of their outdoor living spaces.

“I went to college in Florida where outdoor living is year-round,” Joe says. “People there take that for granted. I decided I wanted to start a career catering to the homeowners in the area where I grew up, using the trades I learned working during high school and college summers alongside family members and close friends. We learned from the best—true masters of their trades—who taught us that there’s a right way to execute these jobs that is critical to the finished product.”

Joe’s crew consists of those friends and family members he has worked with for years as they’ve developed their skills in two specific areas, deck restoration in the outdoor months and interior cabinet painting during the indoor season.

“We chose these jobs because these two areas of the home, decks and kitchens, are the spaces where we live and gather with family and friends every day,” Joe says. “Helping you get the most out of these well-loved areas of your home and keeping them in great shape satisfies us, and you, when you see the finished product.”

For decks, Chagrin Home Improvements has a process in place that not only makes your deck look like new but also gives you many more years enjoying it without costly repairs or replacement. And it all starts with a phone call.

Joe or a crew member will come out to your home for a deck inspection, take photos and get back to you with a written quote. And you don’t have to be home for any part of the job.

“We have a seamless process in place where we first clean the deck thoroughly, getting rid of dirt and mold buildup,” Joe says. “This is a critical step and one where a professional job really makes the difference. Most DIYers skip it altogether, unintentionally do an incomplete job, or do more damage to the deck surface with a harsh power wash or intense scrubbing. Sealing over cracks or debris can be worse than doing nothing at all.”

Once your deck is cleaned and sealed, Joe recommends rinsing it off regularly to help with mold and mildew buildup but every couple of years only a professional cleaning process will protect it from rotting, warping and other issues that will cost you down the road.

“We love our clients’ reactions when they see the finished product,” Joe says. “But also the fact that we know we’ve done the type of job we can be proud of, and you can count on.”
