Craftsmanship with character

For Odd Job Bob Handyman Services founder Bob Peters, doing the job right means more than fixing what’s broken—it means delivering skilled craftsmanship, white-glove service and building genuine relationships along the way.

A few years ago, I hired a handyman to change out a bathroom faucet. After five hours at my house, including three trips to Home Depot for supplies, he charged me a fortune, and the faucet is still crooked. When he finally left, I felt taken advantage of and disrespected. I vowed to never let that happen again.

Bob Peters, founder of Odd Job Bob Handyman Services, loves stories like this. Not because he wants to see people treated this way, but because he’s made it his mission to see that they’re not.

Long before he was old enough for a traditional job, Bob was already learning the value of hard work by tackling projects around the house. As a teenager, he held two jobs before attending the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and later the University of Pittsburgh, where he studied international finance. He went on to spend years in retail management, working his way from the store level to corporate management with companies including GameStop and Dollar General. Today, Bob believes he has found the path that was his destiny all along.

“I’ve taken all that I’ve learned in my personal and professional lives and put it into this company,” says Bob. “How I run this business, how I run my life, stems from one thing—the quality of the relationships I form with people.”

When Bob started Odd Job Bob six years ago, it was just Bob himself doing the jobs for anyone who asked—enjoying being off the corporate merry-go-round, spending more time with his wife and five sons, and offering customers a professional, knowledgeable and trusted solution to home improvements.

A turning point in Bob’s life came in 2020, when a serious injury temporarily took him away from the hands-on work he had built his business around. Determined to keep moving forward, he began thinking bigger—not just about what he could accomplish himself, but about building a team that could deliver the same level of craftsmanship, trust and respect he expected on every job.

“You have to make choices, and mine has always been to keep moving forward,” says Bob. “I realized I needed people around me who thought the way I did—people with a passion for the work, experience in a trade and, most importantly, a willingness to learn my way of operating in people’s homes.”

That shift helped transform Odd Job Bob from a one-man operation into a growing team of craftsmen who share Bob’s standards and commitment to the customer experience. He now has a staff of seven people with one thing in common.

“Every hire has to fit our culture,” says Bob. “If you have the personality, passion for this work, drive to succeed, growth potential, and can work with your hands, I can teach you the rest of the skills you need. My success is built on this idea. Along with their knowledge and expertise, my guys know how to act in your home, make a connection and build trust. That’s what sets us apart.”

Odd Job Bob provides professional repairs and handyman and property maintenance services, including drywall repair and patching, interior painting, faucet and fixture installation, carpentry, renovation projects and more.

When you call Odd Job Bob, you’ll first have a conversation with Sarah or Angela to discuss your needs.

“It’s our job to bring Bob’s vision to life,” says Sarah. “That means attention to detail and a ‘white glove’ level of customer service that elevates your experience.”

Depending on your needs, an Odd Job Bob Handyman Services craftsman will complete an assessment and present a quote same day, or, for a remodel or build-out—schedule for a free assessment including budget and timing expectations.

“Our guys are craftsmen because their skill level is far above and beyond a typical handyman who’s looking up your repair on YouTube in your driveway,” says Bob. “As craftsmen, we provide solutions to the problems in your home. This sets a standard of service you won’t find anyplace else in our industry. We are guests in your home, and we leave it better than we found it.”

Odd Job Bob’s craftsmen build relationships with customers so that when an issue comes up with your home, they are your first call.

“We have clients who cook for our guys,” says Bob. “In our business, if someone cooks for you, you know you’re doing it right.”

For Bob, the future of Odd Job Bob isn’t just about building the business—it’s about building opportunities for the people behind it.

“I’m the person who wants to see everyone succeed,” says Bob. “The best scenario is for this business to run without me, where my employees continue to help customers the right way. The Odd Job Bob way.”
