Cabinet refresh
Your old cabinets don’t need to be replaced; they just need to be refreshed. Here’s how Chagrin Home Improvements can take your tired, outdated cabinets to a beautiful flawless finish.
Do the same old tired kitchen cabinets have you wishing for an upgrade? Chagrin Home Improvements, our very own local experts, focus on just two services—deck restoration and cabinet painting.
“It was never my intention to be a jack-of-all-trades,” owner Joe Jacobs says. “My goal was to become expert in two areas that would keep our crew busy all year without sacrificing quality and service. We’ve become the best at deck restoration and interior cabinet painting with a dedication to training my all-local, full-time crew and prioritizing expertise, service and value.”
Joe offers a brief checklist of things to think about if you’re curious about his company’s interior cabinet restoration process and results.
“I understand people often want new or assume that an updated kitchen means new cabinets,” Joe says. “Honestly, new cabinets today may not be close to the quality you already have. Often customers just want a change from an outdated look. We can do that with a quality paint job and transform your entire space.”
Here are some things Joe encourages you to think about before making a decision:
- Are the cabinet boxes structurally sound, no warping, sagging or severe water damage?
- Are doors/drawers in good condition?
- Do you want to keep the current layout of the kitchen?
- Is the goal to change the style/look of the cabinets?
- Are you prioritizing cost savings?
- How much time do you have for this project and are you prepared to lose the use of your kitchen for weeks, even months? Chagrin Home Improvements will be in and out of your home in just five days and you’ll have the use of the space the entire time.
- Do you have the budget and desire to also change appliances, tile, flooring and more? Replacing cabinets often affects other features of your kitchen.
“If your cabinets are in good condition, the cost of painting is drastically lower than the cost of replacement with a faster turnaround time and much less disruption to your space and life,” Joe says.
Here’s what you can expect with a cabinet painting process by Chagrin Home Improvements.
- The process begins with a visit to your home to assess the cabinets and their condition. Joe gets back to you promptly with a detailed, written quote.
- The removal of the cabinet doors, drawers and hardware happens next. Everything is cataloged to ensure it’s put back in the right place.
- Cabinet doors and drawers are taken to the painting facility where the critical preparation process begins. Cracks or holes in the wood are filled before sanding every inch to a smooth finish, cleaning them thoroughly to remove dust or residue, then applying two coats of a premium primer and spraying two coats of extremely durable urethane enamel paint for a flawless finish.
- While the doors are painted off-site, a crew member is painting the cabinet boxes using the same process as in step three for a stunning, uniform finish.
- Your revitalized cabinets and hardware are reinstalled.
Joe also reminds potential customers who support an eco-conscious lifestyle that painting instead of replacement means no sending bulky cabinetry to a landfill.
“There are many reasons why customers paint and don’t replace,” Joe says. “The reasons may differ, but the results are the same. A like-new kitchen in less time for less money and less disruption is always a win.”
