Originally built as a private summer home in the late 1800s, The Oaks Lakeside welcomes everyone to dine in an elegant yet relaxed setting along the shores of Chippewa Lake.
Whether you’re planning a romantic dinner, celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a new place to enjoy a memorable meal, the restaurant offers a scenic escape that feels a world away from the everyday.
“We don’t rush you through dinner, as we want diners to enjoy the relaxing, peaceful atmosphere you feel when looking out over the lake,” says Bonnie Drushal, co-owner, and second-generation member of the family who has owned the restaurant for more than a half century.
Established in 1961, The Oaks Lakeside has built a loyal following with its welcoming atmosphere, thoughtfully prepared cuisine and commitment to keeping the dining experience fresh. Seasonal specials bring new flavors to the table, while classic favorites keep guests coming back. The combination of carefully crafted dishes, historic surroundings and a peaceful lakeside setting makes every visit feel like a special occasion.
“We specialize in American cuisine featuring steaks, seafood and pasta,” Bonnie says. “One of our most popular dishes, the Steamed Scampi, has been on the menu since the ’60s.”
The enduring favorite features shrimp steamed to perfection and served with warm garlic butter, creamy polenta and seasonal vegetables.
The steaks also offer a culinary twist with an Espresso-Rubbed Strip Steak and a Black & Blue Ribeye for an added flavor burst.
“While we take hospitality very seriously, our main draw is the incredible view of the lake,” Bonnie says. “Even in the winter when there is snow on the ground and the lake is frozen, the landscape is breathtaking.”
Surrounded by such natural beauty, The Oaks Lakeside also is a sought-after venue for private parties, weddings and special events.
